No. The iPod's hardware is limited to 16bit 48kHz.

I have iModed and Rockboxed iPod 5g 60GB and i am able to play 24/96 and 24/192 tracks.

But some larger and high bitrate 24/192 tracks do not play smoothly, it cachces sometimes... 24/96 is alright.

OK so the problem I mentioned before magically disappeared. Another thing though: anybody know a mirror of the beyondwind patch? His site's out, and I think I might need it. Rockbox (latest build) hangs on playback. Everything else works fine, even image viewing.

My rockboxed 5.5g chokes on 24/192 files. It plays 24/96 just fine.

My videopod uses the Tarkan SD card bundle. I had been using BeyondWind's patch, but the unit was freezing up from time to time. I have just reverted to the last regular release to see if that fixes things.

I think my "battery issues" were actually Rockbox freezes.

I think that the patch is a must have for the mSATA cards, but not for the SD card approach as I understand matters.

No idea.  If you head over to the rockbox site they should have something about patching rockbox builds.

I finally decide to do the 480 gig mod and what happens?  Amazon uk stick the price up by £10 :frowning2:

That one may be for the video. Here is the one for the 6g or 7g:

Yes only and a must for the msata mod. Without the patch, one won't be able to boot it to RB successfully for the msata mod.

Many thanks. How exactly is it used though? I copied it over my current installation, and now I'm just getting the fallback image.

Just overwrite whatever files and folders after the RB is installed, and make sure you got the correct patch for your ipod (5g/5.5g or 6g/7g). See the link above for the patch for 6g/7g.
