Wow, very much enjoyed this one - first real time I've heard how good binaural can sound...

I am loving my portable setup more and more quite literally each minute - thanks for this link
smily_headphones1.gif

Thanks Duncan.

Apart from the separation, there are some other things to listen for in that one - when the rain starts to fall upon the roof, or when you hear the motorcycle's low-frequency portion of its exhaust bleeding through the venue's walls (as the driver takes the bike on down the road (it sounds like a V-twin, repeatedly ascending in pitch as the driver ascends through the gears and drives off into the distance)).

If you liked that though, you should most definitely check out the Philippe Lejuene jazz tracks (from Baker's Keyboard Lounge) in Detroit. As always though, you should (if you're interested in checking it out) download the track from soundcloud - their streaming player makes many tracks sound awful, but as long as you've downloaded the track, then that's no longer an issue. Here are the links to the .flac versions:

...and here are the links to the 320 kbp3 mp3 version of these two tracks:

Hope you like 'em, and I'm glad that you liked my recording efforts.

"Ann Arbor Huron High School Choirs, Summer 2012 (FLAC (when downloaded))"

These recordings feature the Ann Arbor Huron High School choirs as recorded one warm summer day back in 2012.

One thing to note - in some of the tracks, you will hear (left ear) the sound of a cicada up in one of the trees near the theater.

Here's a collection (well, part of a collection) that I recorded back in 2012. This one is mostly binaural, but also has a bit (just a bit) of conventional stereo folded-in. Because it's mostly binaural though, you'll want to use headphones (of course you knew that already...this is, after all, headfi...).

The tracks' volumes have been maintained to that the relative loudness, track to track, is maintained. This is why some of the files will be considerably further down from 0 dBFS (full scale) and others will be much closer to 0 dBFS. I wanted to preserve the relative dynamics of these four tracks, which is why I chose not to normalize them.

No artificial 'sweetening' has been applied to these recordings (i.e. no artificial or convolution reverb). I did employ a high-pass filter to help minimize the upward spread of masking which would have likely taken place, especially during the pianissimo portions of these tracks.

Additionally, these are purely acoustic - no P.A. was employed as reinforcement for these tracks.

If you like tracks that have high dynamic range (some of these have, if I remember, somewhere around 50-60 dB dynamic range) and nice left-to-right placement as well as ambience, you'll likely enjoy these (even if a cappella is not exactly your cup of tea as a genre).

Lastly, remember, whatever you do, don't stream these; soundcloud's streaming player takes a broadsword to fidelity, so if you really want to hear everything that went into these, be sure to download them and then play those files. Trust me, it's worth it.

I'll likely re-post this set in 320 kbps mp3 as well, but I'll probably put that link (and the flac link) in the Chesky binaural thread, where I have posted other links. In the mean time though, download these and have a listen.

I hope you will like what you hear.

"The Pioneer High School Symphony Band (flac (when downloaded))"

Here's the text from the collection:

Hybrid recordings (containing binaural and stereo content) of the Ann Arbor Pioneer High School Symphony Band, David A. Leach, Conductor.

Note: Because these recordings contain binaural content, the best listening experience will be realized when headphones are used. Also, please download these tracks - the streaming player on soundcloud destroys much of the fidelity, but if you download these tracks, all of the fidelity will be kept intact.

This collection is also available in 320 kbps mp3 format (when downloaded).

Performance:
Recorded in Schrieber Auditorium, Ann Arbor Pioneer High School, February 3, 2014.

Tracks:

01 The Stars and Stripes Forever
02 Symphony for Band - Movement I - Adagio - Allegro 9
03 Symphony for Band - Movement II - Adagio Sostenuto
04 Symphony for Band - Movement IV - Vivace

Composers:

Track 01: John Philip Sousa
Track 02 - 04: Vincent Persichetti

Credits:
Produced by David A. Leach & Mark A. Jay
Recorded, Engineered, and Mastered by Mark A. Jay, Immersifi Recording Services

NOTE: I will upload the 320 kbps mp3 soon - soundcloud's interface has been really clunky tonight, so it took me much more time to upload and organize this playlist than normal.

Hope you like it.

The Sound Liaison Studio Masters are in my humble opinion the top sounding at the moment.

Sound Liaison, producing recordings available only in 24-bit/96kHz downloads that mirror the master recording. And man, are they ever sweet. I've seldom heard recordings that were so successful in both performance and sound aspects.

I'm also really digging Ayla Nereo's vocals in Wildlight.

Whoa, sweet thread!  Can't wait to go through this and get some new music, especially FLACs.  I don't have anything to contribute

, but at least wanted to say thanks everyone!

Yes, it is a great thread! I just checked Ektoplazm, and see that there are quite a few new releases, so you'll find some cool FLAC tunes there no doubt!

Great thread. Wish there was a table of contents on the first page but 15pgs shouldn't take too long to go through.

That would be great, thanks! Let us know when you're done

Looks like all of Ayla Nereo's stuff is currently "name your price" - http://aylanereo.bandcamp.com/  I DL'd the album Hollow Bone last night and, although very different from Hers was as Thunder, it is definitely worth a listen.  Some interesting eastern euro harmonies in there that sort of remind me of Kitka.  Other albums, by contrast, are pure acoustic folk.
