Noble Audio - the Wizard returns!

Incidentally, I had my friend's Hugo with me during my last audition with the Khan. The comparison between the 2 devices was both cursory and brief, but I did find the Hugo 2 (white filter) faring a little better in showcasing the Khan's stellar treble section. Highs were sparkling, articulate and yet, very well controlled. I'd appreciate if you could chime in with your thoughts once you've compared the 2 yourself. Thanks! :)

When mine are back from noble will let you know. (they were sent back for a minor cosmetic tweek)

What's a reasonable price for an OTS-eligible K10? The OTS and a Wizard design/reprint by itself is pretty pricey, so I wonder how much would make sense for the IEM.

Not sure about the price of an ots eligible Ciem price

But the best price to be found for a new k10 universal would be through massdrop (aka drop)

50% of purchase price?

Well the K10 is kinda discontinued, so...
It’s listed for $340ish, which seems like a really good deal. It’s just that with ear impressions/shipping/OTS, I’m probably looking at $1000 altogether?

On a different note, the revised Khan is available now in Korea (Improved 2-pin connectors)! And I guess a lightning adapter has been added to the accessories at some point as well?

Two thumbs up :)

Original is on the left, revised on the right. I haven’t seen them in person, but have been told that the visible changes are with the overall unit size and socket depth.

That reduced size would be very appealing for improved comfort whilst laying down etc. I think mine are the original style though.

If that is your budget then I would consider the K10 to be well worth £1000. That is roughly is price when it was released. If you can spend more then Encore would be my preference. I've yet to hear Khan and I do prefer custom. One thing though, I don't know if BA's last indefinitely or deteriorate over time but the K10c's that qualify for reshelling will be getting on a bit now.

I don't understand why a lightning adaptor is available when the Khan does not work with the iPhone without an amp, from what I read.

So it would be about $3-400 cheaper I think than buying the CIEM through Massdrop (if they do another run)? That’s not insignificant, and I suppose there’d be more flexibility in design with the OTS, but (as you mentioned) driver longevity is always a concern.

As for the lightning adaptor, it was specifically the Apple dongle that caused issues from what I remember, since the Noble lightning cable apparently worked without any problems. I guess someone found a more elegant workaround than the Dragonfly Red.

AFAIK the drop is Universal only.
What you say about theLightning cable makes sense. Thanks.
