Noble Audio - the Wizard returns!

I have to say the Mojo was the only thing that added anything of substance to without taking anything away from my Shure SE846s based on the brief auditions I've done with it. Certainly if it were more portable I'd be looking at getting one.

I found the cowon p1 to be on the warm side as well. Sound wise I thought it was a good player.

I gave it to Rico Suave as his player was long in the tooth.

I recently bought a fiio x7 v2 because I heard lots of good things about it. Also, that it has viper bass. Upon experimenting, I no longer need my headstage arrow amp for the bass boost. It definitely gives a huge bass thump, without the muddiness of the headstage arrow amp (on a jh16 fp anyway). Not gonna lie, I'm going to use encore with x7 v2 and viper bass setup.

Rico sporting Noble swag

I was in London a couple of weeks ago and saw someone wearing a Noble tee. Couldn't walk up and ask him what Noble gear he had but I did catch his eye, point at my chest where the logo would be and gave him a nod of recognition to let him know I also followed the path of Noble. Of course I may have come across as a crazy person.

You may or may not know but how many Noble Tees do you think you have sold since you started selling them John?

Thanks guys for all theses advices. Would anyone care to weigh in regarding mojo + encores ? Will this combo be substantially better than my my ak100 II ?

My rig: RWAK240 + Mojo + PlusSound X6 silver+gold cables + K10Encores. I listen to lots of electronic, metal/sludge, modern classical and vocal, ambient, noise, other weird stuff.

The RWAK240 by itself is nice, but tends to have a bit more low end/bass heft to my ears. The unmodded 240 was weak on the bass to me, so the mod helped a bit and warmed it up a touch. Great for warming up clinical-sounding electronic stuff, or unimaginatively engineered acoustic or pop. And sometimes for older Blue Note recordings I prefer the RWAK240 by itself with the Encores, and old Bowie, CCR, stuff like that shines with this simple setup.

When I incorporate the Mojo, its as DAC + amp, with the RWAK basically being an overpriced transport. Adding the Mojo tones down the bass ever so slightly compared to the RWAK240 alone, but the Mojo adds clarity and depth in the mids--contemporary vocal stuff really shines in this set-up. The Mojo adds a little brightness to the highs compared to the RWAK240 on its own, and with certain recordings it can start to feel fatiguing and brittle to me. I love this combo with dreamy space/ambient/dub stuff like Echospace or Deadbeat, on really sharply remastered jazz classics, the most recent Robert Plant, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Pallbearer, etc.

I don't f-around with my iPhone as a transport, so I can't offer any comparison about the role the transport plays when Mojo is involved, but I'm not terribly convinced it's significant.

Nutshell: adding Mojo gave me more options, enabling me to tune my portable listening based on whatever genre I want at the moment. I like the options so much I'm considering throwing more money at Chord for a Hugo2. My guess is that adding Mojo to your AK100II will also give you more options.

Wow! Thanks for that very informative response. I’m still getting used to the sound of my encore. I’ve seen mojos in the for sale forum at great prices, especially considering that apparently, it’s on par or even better that the priciest a&k daps.

Mojo's are nice, but its issue is the same as using an amp, stacking sucks for portability.
