I have both the AK Jr and the Sony.  Both are great devices at their respective price points.  I prefer the Sony when weight isn't an issue or when I want to do other things such as watch videos on the plane etc.  The SQ from the Sony is a bit better.  I find the overall SQ and presentation to be fuller. The battery life is fantastic i.e. 20+hours.  The Jr is lightweight and provides for a very detailed delivery.  The UI is good and the battery life is also good 7-10 hours.  It also serves as a decent DAC and due to its low profile it is very stable on a work surface such as a desk.  It is also a third the price of the Sony.  I don't think you wrong either way.
