Noble Audio - the Wizard returns!

Didn't realize that there was a choice in the Savant. Thought it was only Wizard.
I am looking to purchase this and just curious as to its designation. The website has it listed under the Wizard selection. Didn't see any mention of a 'standard' one.

If what you are looking at is a plain black shell then it is the 'standard' or lower tier option despite being in the wizard section.

That's just plain confusing.

I understand where you are coming from with the tiering but I also personally feel I have paid quite a premium price for a pair of iems that do not appear premium in finish. There are no end of engineering/design solutions that would solve such a simple problem. For example why not place the 'gate' on the inner side of the shell?

To be honest for the problem to be dismissed as 'well you bought the budget option' smarts a little having parted with a sizeable amount of money.

Paulo, as I said, I need to review things. I have some folks say they are a great build, built like a tank, practical, and in time of need can be used like a pair of bolas. I have some folks that say they look like 2 or 5 dollar products. I have some head fi members that love to chastise noble and say noble is too focussed on aesthetics and not on what really counts... (Sound) they also say I charge far too much for the prestige etc etc,

I have people that think paying 1500$ on a forged metal housing is perfectly justifiable, but placeing a 200$ premium on a hand crafted product is not justifiable.

I have one customer paying an amount I dare not disclose for set of One Off Noble 1's

So Im kind of stuck, I can upgrade the standard shell, effectively removing a budget option and remove the wizard option. But what about the folks that want a wizard design?

Ultimately, I can't make everyone happy, but it would certainly be nice if I could

Well hopefully things are more clear now, black shell. Black face plate = standard

Wizard designs are listed with a photo as well, so u pick what u want.

Btw, I do believe the wizard design savants are in California now, should be listed any time soon, if not now

I understand what you are saying but what I don't agree with is that I don't feel you are charging a budget price for your so called budget option. For £400 a set I'm sure there's room in your margin for a little finessing. After all, the reason that I chose to buy from a 'boutique'/bespoke whatever you want to call it company and pay a premium for it is because I believe I am paying for unique performance/quality/design.

In all honesty if your website stated that the standard savant universal is your budget tier and to expect imperfections/damage in the finish I may not have been so quick to part with my money.

Do they sound good? Yeah. Do they sound good enough that design and finish don't matter to me? The jury is out...

Well u kind of hit the nail on the head. We r boutique, and some things we do really well. Much like Lotus, a great car, crappy interior... Worth the price? I'd buy one if I could afford one, warts and all.

Sadly we don't have the bazillion dollar budgets, but we do some things those guys don't do as well. Like communicate with folks on line at 2 AM.

Shoot me an offer! I've burnt these in with a very unique boutique method, definitely added value but I'll cut you a deal as you seem like a nice guy...

Sure, what kind of discount you think those gate marks are worth? I'm positive everyone I know will immediately point those out to me when I show them to them

I'm not unhappy. I'm just asking questions. I'm not even a customer yet...actually kind of excited that I may be getting a new set of IEMs soon.

I am surprised that a company that values aesthetics as highly as Noble does, sends out a product that is less than perfect in that regard. A note on the website might avoid disappointment.

I'd vote to give them a bit of a break and some time to work through this. They're true artisans, but they are not mass production experts. This can be seen in their flawless CIEMs where they 100% control the manufacturing and the issues here with some of the UIEMs where they rely upon outside contractors to do things like injection-mold the cases. I've talked with them about it a bit and trust me John and Brannan are taking this very seriously. Cheers

I can understand the confusion caused by the normal universal Savant being in the Wizard category of the e-shop.

Am I correct into assuming that only the universal Savants ordered during the pre-order /launch phase had the Wizard signature lasered into one of the shells?
Or is it also included in the current ones?

I personally think the $200 premium for the Wizard one shot design option for the Universal Savant is on par with the other companies.
I mean for ciems, choosing a special faceplate often goes for like $50-100 per side no? Here we get a one shot unique design (each made by the Wiz himself I assume) + the rest of the processes like John described.
I do think the Wiz sig in color should be standard offering with each Wizard commissions though /wink
