Hi everyone,

it seems the fit of my 8A is rather fine but because I chose the comfort instead of musician fit, I think it comes loose every few mins or with constant motion so I'm just wondering if I should send it back for a refitting or is there a way to improve on the fit of the canals such that it stays in place once its in?

Overall, there isn't anything obscenely wrong with the fit but my only issue here is the canal fit.
Maybe because I opened my mouth a little too wide for the impressions?
Not too sure but according to Wizard if I were to get musician's fit I have to get a new set of impressions which will mean extra costs and another month of long wait.
Will musician's fit hold it better in place?

Any recommendations?

Thanks!

It sounds like the canal is too small.  You can talk with the Wizard to make sure it is OK to do so, but you can try non-toxic nail polish to build up the canal.  I have used this for one of my CIEMs about a month ago and it worked, but now I am waiting to see if there are any long term issues. Initially I uses regular nail polish, but my ears were irritated every time I used the CIEM with the regular nail polish.  The sound has improved to an extent with the better canal seal.

The longer the canal, the more likely the fit will be improved no matter how you move your mouth, my regular fit acrylic CIEMs don't have any issues, at least when they fit right.  And the outer part of the shell should fit relatively snugly, which will also help with the CIEM staying in place.

Nice!  Let us know about the sound after some time.  And how long does the battery last with the Tascam?

I think my hybrid AA batteries can last more than 8hrs. You have to try this Tascam Dr-2d, it can even drive my Pawstex (Fostex T50RPv2) to a comfortable sound level. Sound is very detailed.

Yup, the outer part fits well, only issue I have is with the canals when it somehow moves a little further outwards so the bass rumble isn't that obvious/felt anymore and that is when I know I have to give it a little push in. Is this a common issue amongst customs by the way?
I'm considering purchasing the Comply wraps just to see if it helps.

fairly common.. the long-term solution is nail polish... comply is only short-term solution

I would be happy to put my most resolving, the SE 5-way against Jude's most resolving.  Maybe in due time.  There are many 4 and 5-way options out there that have very good resolution such as the NT6 and Custom 4 unit.

Ambient Acoustics AM4 Pro - 2/23/12 - sent in impressions

Wow! That is really interesting! I am looking forward to see a review of these customs in the future. As I know they are from Ukrainian-based company whose customs are quite well-known in Russia where I used to spend my whole life.

However, I didn't see any detailed reviews or comparisons on Russian forums although I remember it was said by a representative of a company that Ambient Acoustics AM4 has a somewhat similar sound signature and mainly in bass to 1964 Ears Quads. In contrast, Ambient Acoustics AM4 Pro is said to be tuned to be more neutral and analytical. That's what I have read on that forum. There is not much discussion here (in Russia

) probably because people still prefer to use universal iems or get customs from more popular companies such as 1964 Ears, JH Audio and others.

Perhaps, then, the Russian buyers of American CIEMs feel that "The Grass May Be Greener Over There"  ?

(I don't know if you're familiar with that British saying?)

Lol. I understand what you mean. Maybe, maybe. I guess the main reason is prices as they are on a pair with other companies in the world. So why Ukrainian, lol? Not trying to be racist or anything.
