Waiting for my flight back home and when it comes to blocking out any noise (engine noise, screaming kids right next to you, whatever ...) nothing beats my trusty Etys (I own the 2/3/4XR). On top of that the 2 and 4XR still serve as some sort of tonal reference in my book (YMMV). I just love 'em to bits, still use them for mixing and mastering here and there and don't leave home without them.
Edit: not exactly in the mid-fi price range but a different story soundwise and if anyone would ask me for a general purpose IEM for $100 I'd still wholeheartedly recommend the ER2XR. YMMV.

For anyone interested (and perhaps for those new here) here are the results from the last Watercooler survey of the most popular IEMs under $2k. Regulars of that thread may have seen this list but for those just stumbling here for the first time it may be a helpful guide.

I'm finding myself not preferring the tuning of Timsok TS-316 (the finish, fit etc are nice). It has bass slam but to my ears needing better quality. And the overall presentation doesn't pull me in. Penon Quattro does that and to my ears sound miles ahead of TS-316. We all hear differently.
Regarding DAPS in this mid fi segment: Sony WM1AM2, Lotoo PAW 6000, Hiby RS2, are my top 3 in that order.
Hiby RS2 (R2R) implementation is a very good Mid fi DAP for its price and Sony WM1AM2 is top DAP to my ears in this mid fi segment & provides an excellent value for money.

Divvying up the market by price can be tricky, I personally use this delineation:
Tier 1: Doesn't leave the house
Tier 2: For out and about/travel
Tier 3: Work/working out/glove box
some "mid-fi" I've been enjoying in the rotation lately: Final E5000, Penon Quattro, and FatFreq Maestro Mini

The Sonic Memory SW2 An iem that seems to be only available to a select few due to so few dealers actually stocking them. A brilliant DD with wood faceplate and wooden tuning nozzles a mid forward presentation with very quick dynamic bass coming from an 8mm DD using the Cayin N3Ultra it's a very organic spacious sound signature. Also the iems come with a kimberKable which is a very nice cable.
Still available from Shenzen Audio

Can you compare these Sonic Memory SW2 to Himalaya or some other recently released IEMs that have a positive response?
My under $500 canons are EA2000...to me fantastic IEMs.
