Matrix Audio Element Series Thread

That’s the only negative I’ve experienced so far with my Element M.

The only time I AirPlay is when the music I’m after is solely on YouTube or watching videos (movies would require USB to sync)

Ironically my set up is too transparent where I avoid YouTube for serious listening even for the music that isn’t on quboz/tidal.

Greetings guys!

Аnyone had experience with connecting external power supplies from iFi Audio to the Element H or X-SPDIF 2?
Were there any problems due to the high current (when using the recommended voltage)?
In the datasheet of Element H or X-SPDIF 2 written current much less than the iFi psu gives (5V/2.5A, 9V/2A).

Regards.

Element H/X-SPDIF 2 most likely have in-built voltage regulators to adjust external voltage to required level, but I'd ask their manufacturer about this just to make sure.

Oh, if you can ask manufacturer or link @, then it will be great. Thank you!
I'm really understand instruction of use recommended voltage, otherwise device may be damaged or even broken.
But I'm still confused about current parameter.
E.g. if recommended voltage is 12V and current not less 1A, what will be if connect 12V and 2/3/4 A?

P.S. Also I've seen some posts about using 5V w/o any problem with X-SPDIF 2. *shrug*

Regards.

What I meant is that you should ask the manufacturer since you have their products :)
Yeah, I edited my post before you answered since I don't know if manufacturer represented here.
And since I have 5V iPower and can test 9V iPower I've made my post :)

As long as the voltage is correct, it will draw the amperage that is needed. That's how it works.
One exception is those 5V 'fast chargers' that can be troublesome for 5V DACs etc.
Thanks. I'll try 9V iPower to power Element H.
I hope won't any problems since I had 'bad' exp with 5V iPower to power another device via usb.

Regards.

Seems like there's not a lot of chatter about this DAC/amp/streamer. It looks like a fantastic all-in-one device.

I am looking for a high-end DAC to replace my Gungnir Multibit, and the Element X, the Yggdrasil, and the Chord Hugo TT2 are amongst the contenders. I have heard, and enjoy the latter 2, but not the Matrix Audio product; I will be trying them out soon, though.

Nevertheless, the packed feature sheet of the Element X is quite impressive. Has anyone had any issues using the Element X as a pure streamer (e.g. with an attached hard disk or Micro SD card)? Ideally, I'd like to keep the Element X away from my PC, which is very noisy at the worst of times. Thanks!

Lots of problems with Tidal playback, the playback queue is a mess, I wouldn’t recommend it
So it has issues streaming via Tidal?

I don't use Tidal, though - all of my files are stored on local sources, such as my computer (in WAV and FLAC). Hence, I'm interesting in using the wireless capabilities of the Element X (i.e. using a music player app, like Roon, to control the files stored on an attached hard disk).
