LCD-X and XC Update

Hi folks
As of last week, I switched from LCD 2 Classic to LCD X 2021. I am very pleased with the sound of the new headphone, however I am struggling with comfort.
The headband on the X is not doing its job, I feel the whole weight of the headphone on top of my head and this is because the leather strap seems to be too long, it touches the iron headband. As a result I found them uncomfortable after an hour or so.
This was not the with the Classic, where the headband was working properly, the leather strap stayed separated from the iron band and the weight of the headphone was nicely spread on my head.
Anyone noticed the same ?

I shortened the leather strap on my LCD-XC (2019) by a few millimeters to achieve a gap with the steel headband. Lesson: always hang your headphones by the steel strap (to avoid weighing down the leather strap).

thanks , that is good advice and I will do that from now on.
Actually, the HP are brand new so I think they came with a long leather strap from the factory.
I contacted Audeze support and they kindly offered me a replacement strap which should be shorter than the one I have.

I ended up making a new EQ for my LCD-X 2021.

Pre-Amp = -6

25Hz = +1.5 Q 2
Low Shelf 55Hz = +3 Q 1.4
Low Shelf 120Hz = +1 Q 1.4
450Hz = +1 Q 3.5
700Hz = -1 Q 3.5
1.1kHz = +1 Q 3.5
1.95kHz = +1 Q 3.5
3.6kHz = +2.5 Q 4
4.1kHz = +1 Q 3
5.6kHz = -2 Q 3
7.2kHz = +1 Q 4
8.2kHz = +1.5 Q 3.5
12.2kHz = -3 Q 3

The sound quality is just spectacular with this EQ on my pair.

So is the consensus that the 2021 lcd-x has less bass than the previous model? Bass quantity/impact is one of my highest priorities here (edm) so im curious if its just a case of EQ'ing in a little bit or if the driver/pad change inherently reduces the bass in any kind of way (impact, resonance etc)

Out of the box, the LCD-X 2021 is fairly flat in its bass response. In terms of bass tightness, decay, and detail though, it is stellar. This headphone takes EQ adjustment with ease. You can make it sound however you want, including an increase in bass quantity and impact. Distortion on this headphone is extremely low.

If you decide to purchase the headphone, give my EQ a try with it. I think you will be very impressed.

I think if your concern is bass “slam” the LCD-2 will be better suited.

out of the box the bass is trash, but some EQing make it worth the sound every cent of 1000$ price

I wouldnt say the bass is trash at all. Thats why it takes EQ so well.

Campfire Cascades on the other hand..... :darthsmile:

I thought the same when I first tried the LCD-X's, I was freaking out because the 13 yr old HD650's I have sounded so much better that the Audeze's. Then they got broken in, and then bass shelves were made, along with EQ adjustments, etc., and now its a night and day difference in the other direction.
