Did another post just to bump so people would see it.

I said screw it and just cut the nice stock plug off today for reterm'n with a 4 pin xlr.

I made a thread in the diy section for it because no one has ever answered questions/posted about reterminating one with a stock cable.

Impressions are in that post too. They were nice but not good enough to keep compared to the K1000 yesterday (single ended through a shanling ph100). Today running balanced out of the F1, I think they are awesome. I know for a fact there is more high end treble now. The bass may have slightly dropped but not much at all if so. With the upper end being a bit higher, they are great. Definitely not selling them now.

My left can's hinge finally did the inevitable; it broke off.
The right can probably should be loose too I could probably deduce.

How can I get these repaired? Anyone out there willing to fix it for me? Wouldn't mind re-cabling and modding the headband too.

Exactly how bad did it break? WHen mine broke it, after taking it apart, it was just a small plastic piece that came off. I was able to fix it with a little super-glue and silicone, very easily. Can you take some close-up pics?

Aighte I'll get some pictures.

It is the small middle piece that holds the joint together.

I listen to a lot of acoustic music, and my new DX1000s weren't holding up next to my Grado GS1000s. Then tonight I switched genres for some reason, and put in Peter Gabriel's Passion (especially Zaar). OMG THE BASS. I think NIN is next.

Does anybody have a rec for a particularly great-sounding bass recording on these phones? I suppose I could post this down in the music thread, but I'm interested to hear of bass that rocks this particular model. Any genre. I want my head to explode.

Try "Deeper Well" and "Where Will I Be?" From "Spyboy" by Emmylou Harris.

It is the smallest piece. It broke simply from lifting the headphones. It is cracked not simply displaced. But it is only that smallest replaceable piece that is damaged.

Also on a side-note, f anyone is into techno/europop for teh dx1000 try out gigi dagostino's music. The song Pinocchio would be my more specific suggestion from him.

if you are into acoustic music I would recommend checking Ensemble Galilei - From The Isles To The Courts (hybrid SACD)

or Looking For You by Allan Taylor

I am in fact really into acoustic music, but I don't know either of these artists. Thanks to you (and others) for picking music that you think really works with the DX1000 and not just Dark Side of the Moon etc.

Infoseeker: I can't find Pinocchio; not listed in his discography. But I did find lots of interesting stuff that is new to me. Thanks!
