ericp10,  Strange things these tips...lol.  I am finding that wide is good also..... but not so much on the FXT90.  I was reading the RE272 thread where someone sugested Senn olives...I asked what they were and he described a silicon tip that had a lower profile...joker called them mushrooms.  So, I looked at what I had, and pulled out the tips that shipped with the FXT90....JVC tips...9mm...lower profile, probablly about the same as the Bluecell tips...also 9mm.  I've had the RE272 for over a month, about 200 hours on them.  With these JVC FXT90 large tips, the RE272, known to be bass light, have picked up more low end, and overall they have lost the dry sound, and they are more musical.  Prveviously I had been using the large GR07 silicone tips on the RE272, and I felt those were the best tips until I used the FXT90 tips.  The green Sony tips that came with the GR07 also worked very well on the RE272...........exciting times to hear them blossom with the different tips.  After returning the 7550, I have ordered the RE262, should be here later this week.  I am looking for phones that excell with vocals, as that is the focal point of my library.  I do listen to many different types of music, and I felt the 7550 did the best job on the type of country music that I like.  The first time I had the RE262, I didn't give them a real chance, sent them back a few days later.  Since then I found out how much difference "burn in" and tips can make..

I am finding that the fun in this sport is really in "the chase", and as soon as one thinks they are satisfied.... a new "chase" begins.... making things fun, confusing, and in need of a good bank account.  More is better, more is better..........

All that said, I asked you what these Monster foam hybrids were....are you referring to Monster Foam Supertips?   I've tried Supertips many times on the FXT90, 272, GR07, and 7550, and they didn't work for me.

Sorry I misse that @ cute. Yes, the Monster foam and silicon Supertips is what I'm referring to. Works great on the FXT90 to my ear. I think shotgunshane likes them too.

I'll have to try them again first thing in the morning.....before my daily brain burn.  I thought they were bass heavy....sort of killed some of the upper mids.... treble, but my FXT90 have changed with more hours, over 150 hours, vocals are sounding better.....more forward, low end tighter... changes in the highs....smoother....but what do I know, lol....

I've been listening too much...10 - 12 hours a day for the last two weeks!

I though we were speaking in terms of proficiency, keeping in mind your ratings of the two.

I haven't ranked them per se (usually do that when I am writing the review, which I have yet to start), but a quick A/B'ing between FXT90 and DDM2 has confirmed that, at least for now, I think FXT90 holds its own ground well against DDM2 with pros and cons of their own.

Aren't these the same JAYS tips that I posted? http://www.ebay.com/itm/A-JAYS-T-Jays-Small-Replacement-Ear-Buds-Tips-Sleeves-/320696793059?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&var=&hash=item76c03aec45 and from your link. Or there are different? Are monster supertips worth getting for ~50$ bucks?

Those aren't the tips being used here, A-Jays/TJays vs  j-JAYS, s-JAYS, d-JAYS and q-JAYS, you can try the tips listed on your Ebay link if you like, don't know if others have tried those.  I have only read that Jays from the dealer listed have been used.  The Monster Supertip Starter Kit is the cheapest rloute, I purchased that kit from Best Buy to determine the size and fit, to see if I would like them.  I then purchased the foam Supertips in large, $29.00, haven't seen them cheaper......

Tips for the FXT90 I am finding are dependent on your sound sig preference. You want maximum bass with nice forward vocals and less harsh treble, go with the Monster foam hybrid Supertips.

If you want nice bass but a sound a bit more balanced across the sound spectrum, go with the JAYS.

If you want hardly any bass but the nice mids and the most forward treble, go with with the widest tip opening you can find like the Bluecell.

It all depends. I'm finding that many of the new IEMs are even more so tip dependent in shaping your desired sound signature.

eric, Trying these this morning....they sound better than I recall earlier.  The Jays imo, provide a little more sparkle (highs), and with my bass test tracks, I hear a little more bass, but I think the bass clarity is slightly better with the Jays (depends on source tracks though)......both are very close, and I could live with either.  So, my opinion has changed with the Supertips/FST90......

Your comments above posted as I was typing this response............  I agree 100%, my friend....

I don't live in US, so that's really sad :/ I can purchase Supertips for ~35euros=50$ , sony hybrids for ~13$ and those JAYS, but if they aren't those that were used by eric I will exclude them. Is it really worth paying that much for supertips? Or it would be better to buy hybrids? They are better than JVC stock? And how are the JVC stock ones? :)

What size tips do you wear?

eric,  I opened up another can of worms with the Supertips...........I put Supertips on my RE272....ala bass light RE272.  With the Supertips and 250 hours burn in on the RE272, I can confirm neutrality on the RE272, imo.  Now for me the bass on the RE272 is just right, tight, quick, quality, just enough quantiy, my bass heavy tracks wound similar to my 2 CH, sub/speaker system when compared..  The FXT90 and GR07 have more bass than the RE272, but I would call the RE272 bass neutral, they are balanced across the spectrum now...I could listen to these for hours....FXT90's can get fatiging if worn for a long period of time, IMO.

Hi all,

I saw that some of you are using the FXT90 with the Digizoid Zo.
How much of the 32 steps can be applied to the FXT90 without ruining the sound?
(I guess the tiny 5mm driver must start to distort at some point, simply because of physics?)

Or in other words: to what extent can the FXT90 be turned into a (sub)bass-heavy phone?
Are the FX700 or MTPC still in a different league in this area? (those have much larger drivers)

Hear is a question out of left field. And it might be a bizarre question to boot!

How does the FTX90 compare with the Westone UM3X?

Has anybody done a comparison, or would anybody like to give it a quick shot?
