The stock paper looks like cigarette paper impregnated with something..

Are you saying if I need a replacement I can just use Zig-Zags?

Thankyou for the kind words, I found it hard to explain that all of these mods (except the cotton and pads which I believe only improve the sound) are interchangable to your own personal tastes, so I decided to just demonstrate my own favourite combination (aiming for soundstage and as flat as possible while keeping the mids silky smooth), the modifications are very similar to "
BMF Transpore 1.33
" modifications with more ventilation sealing.

Thanks for the video eltocliousus.  If you have a chance, could you briefly describe the sonic impact of the earside felt you added under the 840 pads?

It cleaned up the low end and sharpened the highs a little, I prefer all ventilation holes closed as open I seem to hear a tinny sound, but if closed without the felt there's too much bass, this tames it a little.

Finished the V8.1 mods, they're better textured, detailed and faster than the Rasta Pants IMO, believe it or not. Also, it fixed the recessed mids, I would recommend Everyone must try it out when BMF releases it. Clarity also increased, Mr. Speakers, you got competition.

Edit: Sorry for over-hype, but damn they sound good

The latest BMF mods posted in the Wiki is V6.3.  Looks like BMF has done a lot of work that has not been shared publicly to date.  Looking forward to the latest and greatest mod from BMF.  I got an unmolested pair of T50RPs waiting for it.

Some pics of my current setup...

open it up

mask the back of the driver, plug screw holes with toothpicks, also mask the felt over the bass vents (not shown)

the messy part: spray the cup and rear baffle with rubber (roof sealer, rocker guard, etc)

add putty/plasticine/etc

dimples!

that's the size of the cotton ball I used inside

add plasticine/plumber's putty to the cup edge to seal with the baffle when you close it up
... note: though in my case, I found the rubber spray did a pretty good job sealing already, so this step may have been unnecessary
acoustic foam in the two main cavities of the cup
fuzzy dot in the middle
micropore tape over the stock felt over the bass vents

remove front felt, dremel it clean

cut out a piece of dynamat/fatmat/etc
use a hole punch for the pressure vent

slap 'er on there

a piece of felt on top
put the pads back on

...And that's it.

Okay, so using double sided tape to attach the srh1840 pads directly on top of the stock pads (with everything stock on the t50rp) is a MAJOR improvement.  Part of me is happy where I am; the other part of me is not too happy wearing ghetto looking headphones -- the tape is showing between the sandwiched pads.

Improvements over stock:
-Clarity
-Sound-stage
-Comfort
-Tighter bass
-Clean vocals
-Reduced resonance
-No longer "plasticy" sounding

Drawbacks:
-Reveals bad source
-Makes channel imbalance more noticeable
-Due to increased distance from  drivers, reduced efficiency
-Needs more power to sound good (low volumes don't sound amazing)
-Does not increase the amount of bass (for bass heads)
-Not good for anyone without an amp (I could barely get mine loud enough straight from the xfi... which sounded TERRIBLE anyways)
-Kinda ugly without a permanent mounting solution

I am not trying to get ahead of myself, but of the dozens of configurations I tried with my previous set (OS), it never sounded this clean.  I am really happy with this setup as is.  I was always tweeking things to fix one issue, just to create another.  I am considering gluing the srh1840 pads directly on the stock as a permanent solution.  I doubt this is a panacea considering the nearly infinite configurations; however, for those not willing to do tons of modding, this could potentially be simple solution without needing even open anything up.  I would really appreciate anyone willing to try this out to confirm the improvement or to tell me I am crazy.

Edit: Added Photo (forgive the low quality)

I kinda have the experience as you.

V-Moda Cable I presume?  It's a bit ostentatious for my tastes... but $10 is a fairly inexpensive option should I ever need a stock replacement.

Also available in black, or grey/black, for those of us who just aren't quite hip enough to rock a bold accent color.

Thanks for the explanation!  So, to make sure I'm comprehending, earside felt over the driver is really just a way to compensate if you're blocking off the pressure equalization holes?  I thought that was generally regarded as a "no no".

I'm still trying to figure out which, if any, earside mods are worth trying.  I know some like silverstone on the earside, but I assume the general trend is to leave the pressure equalization hole and/or inner ring of screw holes uncovered?
