holy ****! These are mine!  I asked casper to build me a custom set for my office.. it's loud as hell there and I needed something that could isolate really well and have a massive thump/fun with as big and wide of a soundstage as he could muster... I.. am really excited and awed at how these turned out... I can't wait to try them on and write up my impressions here.

Damn Casper, once again, great work!
I let my son listen to music the other day, he nicked the paint on the ones you did for me! So upset...

If you have them disassembled again at some point and think they might have some down time, maybe I can touch them up.

Spent some time in the garage this weekend...

These are some extra deep cups I made as an experiment:

They are mahogany, and now need to be sanded and finished properly. Also need to figure out a headband.

Also finished my own personal Eastern Red Cedar build:

that cedar i gorgeous
how is the sound?

Spent 30 minutes with them last night after doing a little tuning, and then hot gluing them closed. Used Silverstone across the back of the inside and a single layer of unperforated stiffened craft felt over the back of the driver. Sound isn't as forward as the last Cedar build I did for someone else, with a tilt toward warmth. I don't think wood does much in a Fostex build (not like a Grado one anyway), but I might be proven wrong with a little more time :).

i've been going back and forth between grado 225i woodies
and modded tr50p's the fostex win on comfort with a padded headband and alpha pads
but the grados sound a bit better

It's pretty hard to beat a pair of woodied 225i...I was all about Grados for years. My switch to T50rp was because I discovered there is a level of detail without aggression that the Fostex can offer...

I am standing on the shoulders of giants...everything I am doing is based on the awesome work documented in this thread and the other one...nothing amazing or new here, just the ghost of Smeggy hanging about with the collective consciousness of the T50rp modding threads...

That is exactly what got me hooked on planars. I listen to alot of progressive metal, technical metal and progressive rock. Those genres demand speed and tactility. But then i listen to alot of grunge and slow stuff (team sleep, steven wilson solo, mark lanegan solo, and so on). The he4 and t50 are fantastic with every genre ive listened to. Classical, rock, alternative, everything!

I'm not allowed to disclose the price. However I can tell you it would only be a limited edition and with direct to consumer pricing I think it would be around 150-200. I have my own machine shop with a CNC 3d printer and could mold the parts plastic parts with resin. I just curious if people would be interested in something like this.

Might be interested too. Although my girlfriend would have a cow if I bought another pair of headphones, nevermind ones that are more then $30 heh

fleasbaby once you go orthro you never go back, or once and orthrohead, always an orthrohead. I'm sure there's more sayings we can come up with heh
