I'm getting a bit of cut out on the right side of my T50RPs. Just occasionally and if fiddle with the cord jack it goes away. Is this a common problem? Any simple remedy? Will the cable mod possibly solve this? Thanks.

Deoxit is a poor solution IMO because it costs the same as just getting the Vmoda cable, which is a better cable anyways and permanently fixes the static problem.

I bought both at the same time.  The vmoda cable fixed the static, and the deoxit is sitting here unopened.

Hmm I can see why most people don't stack pads with stock/ non-velour ones. At least in my opinion stock pads on top of sa5k pads gave me the ear room I needed, the comfort improvement (although clamping became more noticeable) and quite decent soundstage width, but with recessed mids and highs. Didn't remember that when I just did it for fun a few days (?) ago. Oh well.

Tried making my own pads failed horribly. But then I tried the sock mod on Shure SRH840, and results were very nice, bass decreased slightly, sound stage improved a little, treble increased a bit, comfort increased drastically.

Thanks for the product pictures. It looks like the tape kind might be a similar material though, both foil looking... Is that wouldn't work?

Is there any specific kind of felt, or cotton I should be looking for? Or should I just get whatever I can find?

The foil is just part of it man, the stuff underneath is very important. You could try using the tape, or if you're game you could try the spray on rubber cement or whatever it was that was discussed recently.
If the felt is to replace the stock white paper, I wouldn't recommend buying any felt.
As far as cotton goes, any cotton will work. You can use poly-something, it's in pillows, and fiberglass and **** instead of cotton, I don't know.

I also tried polyfill, don't know if it's just me but they increased bass too much for my tastes and are muddy and unclear compared to cotton, IMO.

I didn't have a very good liking to polyfill either.  I've converted over to just plain fiberglass insulation, that I've been running for the past month and a half.  No cotton or cotton balls fluffed, either.  Just plain fiberglass insulation.  I'm using my Fostex with a C&C BK portable amp at the moment.  It has a bass boost switch that enhances it ever so much - and not in a horrible, flabby way like some bass boosts work.  As long as I keep my T50RPs paired with that amp, I believe I'll be quite content as things are and not trying the cotton options again - even though I have a few small bags of the cotton balls and the flat cotton makeup pads.
