I see the main difference in the modded T50RP is the pads.
 
I made my own and did a little modding here and there and that's the main reason mine sound so amazing.

I agree. The pads make a HUGE difference.

I'm getting good results with pleather... not sure why, it always messed up the sound on other 'phones.

I've got pleather.
 
I've tried velour, killed the sound.

Biggest pads you can find. And the best seal for pads.

I would highly avoid them....I hate how they fall apart every couple of years and you have to buy new ones.
 
Also, they don't provide the best seal.

Ok, just came from a local shop and got 2 pairs of them pleather pads (was using the Medium sized pair coz I slaughtered the Large ones for the foams ):

Sandwiched them pair and put on them T50s... played some music...

How do they sound? To the guys that don't know, these pads are about 70 cents a pair.

Definitely improved the extension and quality of the bass... BUT there's that "pleather sound" again - emphasis on the upperbass-lowmids(?) --- me thinks some people would love this sound but I don't
