For one thing, they are single-ended.  Both the HE-6s and HE-500s benefit from balanced cables.  The HE-6 stock balanced OCC crystal cable is not too bad, and I asked Fang to make it available as an option for HE-500 owners since it's relatively inexpensive for those with balanced gear.  There are other options as well from the usual suspects (Whiplash, ALO, Moon Audio, probably more).

I highly doubt it. Unless they wanted a new flagship that would surpass the HE-6.
