+1 Anyone?

super quickly, the 262 is rich, smooth and luscious, the 400 is not. its more neutral with a little bass boost and a much fuller soundstage.  the 262 is the better in absolute terms and personally the sound sig i prefer too.

the 400 though is still amazeballs stunningly good for the money

Thanks :)  Looks like I will be sticking with my 262's and zeros.  I love the sound of the 262s :D

Really? I could understand the UM2 / UM3X analogy but not so much on RE400 / RE272. The latter are just too different for me.

I don't find them night and day different. Both strive for a neutral-ish signature. I do like your description of the 400 being a monitor type approach and I'd say the 272 is more of a reference type approach. So while there may be a bigger gap between these two than the Westones, I still think there is a lot of similarity in technicalities and overall signature.

Okay. I guess I understand what you mean by the similarity they share.

This is pretty much how I feel about the two of them. The 400 sounds a lot like an upgraded RE-ZERO rather than the mid centric and large soundstage presentation of the 262.

What full sized phone does the RE-400 most compare to in terms of sound?  Not just frequency curve, but tonal qualities, speed, etc.

Also.. has anyone heard both the RE-400 & VSonic VC02?  If so, some comparisons & impressions would be appreciated.

Re the 262 vs 400: Coming from my beloved and now broken RE0, which is more similar as a replacement? The 262 can still be found for $119, the 400's are $99. Or would I be better off grabbing some of the last RE0s for $79? (Kind of pissed my pair waited until after the H-D $49 blowout to break.)

262 sounds nothing like the RE0 (personal experience). Based on other people's impressions the 400 is more similar, if you are limited to the 2.

I agree, i fall into the prefer re0 camp, a minority perhaps?

I am looking for an upgrade to the re0/zero.  The re400 seems from what i have read to be similar to the re0/zero with more bass (sounds like i would like it), but also seems to not have as much detail compared to HF5.

Im deciding between ER4 vs re272, lots of people in this thread are very happy with re272, i am wondering if these people have compared it to the ER4 and prefer which one and why?
