1000+ Head-Fier
Yes the HEK v2 OG DOES scale quite nicely, thank you very much!
I've had these cans for about 8 months now, running via Hugo2Go>Violectric v226. Really lovely sound combo. But it had a bit more mid-bass and less detail/sparkle than I wanted. I've never been one to think that a different preamp/amp made much of a sonic difference.
Upgrading to a GS-X mini changed my mind completely! I was pleasantly surprised at how big the difference between the two. The bass is still rock-solid (literally & figuratively) but not overbearing as before. Now it's more taut and very punchy.
And details galore . I'm not necessarily hearing details that I didn't hear with the v226, but those details are better presented in 3-D. Also, the soundstage is both larger and better defined.
Yes, I imagine the GS-X mini is near end of life. But with the generous return terms (100% applied to more expensive unit) and the upcoming CFA3, it still made sense to me.
For the time being, my cans are now breathing a new life that is very addicting!!!
(p.s. I have a pair of used Susvara coming in next weekend. can't wait!!!)
