Hifiman will probably be completely phasing out their old screw connectors as they implemented the new 2.5mm connectors in their upcoming entry-level "HE-400S." Will be confusing as hell with many fans of their old "HE-400" still talking a lot about them in plural tense. but ya, I would avoid purchasing any cables from older generation Hifiman headphones (up to the HE-400i/HE-560).

  I am in the market for a top headphone amp. I reckon that since I got the BHSE for SR009, only the best one would do the HE1000 justice. Which of the following amps would be the best for HE1000 (or planar headphones)? I am thinking about Dark Star, Liquid Gold, Balancing Act or Apex Pinnacle. Other suggestions in the same league are also welcome. As much as I love the HE1000, I am still cautious about Chinese made amps - so any WOO products or EF1000 is out of the question.

I used to own the Dark Star and really like its sound with the HE-6 BUT it has too much gain for other more efficient headphones and I end up selling it.
I would seriously consider the McIntosh MHA100 (which I own) and also the Moon 430HA. The McIntosh to my ears is more netural and transparent and Moon is more at the warmer side of Solid State.
I would also consider the Woo WA5. Woo products are great in sound and quality plus Jack is a great guy to deal with. The Liquid Gold is also a great option and Alex is also a great guy to deal with,
