Sold Out----
https://store.hiby.com/products/r6-pro-ii-gen-2

I have to wait a bit I guess----hopefully Music Teck will have them soon.

Edit--emailed Andrew at Music Teck and he informed me---
"We will receive R6 Pro II around the middle of next month."

A couple more weeks --so thats not too long--😎
That seems like a placeholder/ landing page - it's missing any colour options and specifications. They must still be building it. But that also means it's very close to sale release! (They probably aren't taking preorders yet to avoid backlog & help shorten delivery times).

That makes sense. Not sure what color option I want....the purple looks pretty snazzy but you cannot go wrong with the classy black one.

Battery life seems rather disappointing.

Looks awesome, but I was hoping for the battery life to be better. If the graphic is accurate, 7 hours when running 4.4mm in class AB is scarcely enough to get through a work day - not to mention the battery losing capacity over time.

I had a chance to hear this at CanJam Singapore and it sounds amazing. For the price, I honestly have some regrets buying my 707.

The only drawbacks that are glaring are that it runs pretty warm especially in Class A mode and the battery drain is quite fast. I recall running it in 4.4mm HP out in class A and I notice the battery life sliding down quite quickly.

That being said, AKM's revival coupled with Hiby's tuning is excellent. It keeps the details but smooths off the edges. Highs are stretched, bass is more rumbly than incisve and the mids are :L3000:. Voices, male and female, sound so sweet and it is addictive to listen to. It really reminds me of my own Topping D70s+A90 but taken to another level. Coupled with that Class A amp, this player is really oozing that naturalness that I like.

For the price, its quite the recommend from me.

how does it compare to the wm1z with mrwalkman mod?

I was actually wondering if I should try this or just mod my wm1a at npaudio :) since the new akm uses 7bits, it intrigued me.

if possible to go indepth that would be great, if not, if it's possible for you to describe the wm1z in your own words, that would be terrific

Thank you for the question! So the WM1Z with MrWalkman FW still remains my gold standard (literally) for portable listening, perhaps only eclipsed by the WM1ZM2.

Anyways, where the 1Z has a darker sound signature, the R6 Pro II is brighter. This rings true in the treble region where the Hiby is definitely more extended and the mids are more forward. Also, the Hiby is more effortless in showing details without making them very sharp. I attribute that to the AKM chips within.

Where I feel that the 1Z still does better is the presentation in bass. For me, the rumble and the weightiness of each note in the 1Z is something that I prefer. Comparatively, the R6 II Pro faster.

However, as a whole, the unique sound of Sony's Class D amp is not something that I feel has been replicated to good effect. It is something I really like and am addicted to listening. That being said, I really do like the R6 II Pro for its perfect combination of Class A amps and 4499EX with its effortlessly natural sound.

Again, for the price, I do feel that you really do get your money's worth of sound. On top of that, it has a modern android system that allows you to stream music if you wish to. I hope this answers your query :)
