BTW, is the battery of this device is really that bad? How long will it last for class AB, high gain, volume 50, 4.4 balanced?
I just returned my Hiby R6 III, thinking of buying this instead?
I have old ShanlingM6 which used AK chip and i like the sounds. Hiby R6 III is ES Chip. Hiby R6 Pro2 is AK chip, hence i want to stick with that.
I get about 6ish hours with this configuration described above (using FLAC/WAV, and with screen off, no BT/streaming/apps in use). Do bear in mind that battery life is expected to degrade with repeated charges over time, and the above tests are from a new DAP.
I suppose if you use MP3s it might consume less battery. The class A amp is the one that burns more battery than the AB one too.
This DAP has really excellent sound, it can compete in sonic fidelity with some of the Sony higher end DAPs like the WM1A for example, just that the Sony ones probably can hit near 30 hours battery life.
Anyone found a third party case ?
The stock case is nice and slim, but unintuitive. The buttons are flat so it’s hard to know where’s what and that makes it practically unusable.

I notice I can change gain during the first seconds of LO mode and then clicking on gain changes nothing. I suppose this is linked with the automatic LO like described on the manual...
Thank you. I’m not a fan of TPU cases. The custom made leather cases on Aliexpress also look ugly.
I hope someone will make a slim leather case with etched buttons. Until then I’ll use the original.
Regarding your LO issue, I can check this later when I get home.
@YanaMJ I checked the LO + Gain.
Seems like a Software bug. Gain only goes higher in LO mode Low -> Mid -> High. You cannot go lower until you unplug and plug the LO again.
I’m wondering if it should even be possible to change gain in LO mode. Does it make sense ?
Same observations than me...so not a defectiv device but a strange behavior as well... Usely we can't change the gain with a true LO like on my R6 2020 for example. So I think the right gain for the LO is the one we obtain by clicking on gain.
Today when I powered up the R6Pro II the screen had the Android “robot” laying on its back with it’s front pane open, a red triangle with an exclamation mark, and small text that said Invalid Command, or no valid command, or something like that… This happened three times, each time I would power down and then power back up successfully.
For the Neutron Music Player users on the RS8, R6Pro II, and R6 III (HiBy's Android 12 based DAPs) who are facing the issue that tapping the play button starts fast-forwarding with silence, instead of playing music.
(I already reported the issue to HiBy support. And they are working on it.)
I found a workaround.
Try turning OFF the "Audio Focus" under the Neutron settings -> Audio Hardware. Then the Neutron will play music much more stably.

It did the same 2 times but I'm pretty sure it's because of the very sensitiv buttons. 1st when I was trying to get it out of the box (hit several buttons at the same time and second time, when I put it in the cover for the 1st time. It was very tight
