whats the difference between aluminium version vs stainless steel one, is there a sound signature difference

Will third party apps be able to play files without down sampling

does it have enough power to drive audeze lcd2, my cowon plenue s can, so wonder how this dap can handle planar headphones and not only iems

Sorry for the late reply, here I am :)

1. No they are built differently but have the same electronics and firmware.
2. Yes, third party apps will be able to play files without downsampling, unless they actively do so before sending out the audio data to the system. This is one of the major selling points of the R6, we call it the Direct Transport Audio architecture (DTA).
3. If they're cabled for 2.5mm balanced they would be able to take advantage of the R6's high power balanced output, which should drive your LCD2 fine, or so I say. Looking forward to reviewers' opinion on this.

Cheers :beerchug:

Loving the R6, my first impressions are positive. Pairs quite well with my Meze 99 Classics. The bass really pops!

Its a bit early for me to comment about the sound with any sort of detail because I haven't had much play time. But I have loaded up Spotify, Tidal and some of my offline music collection and I plan on testing with some of my fav headphones.

I gotta say the R6 is quite hefty and it's weight caught me by surprise when unpacking it. More cushion for the pushin I suppose

Looking forward to putting the R6 through its paces!

indiegogo pics showed a lock screen with album art. Is that coming? Am I missing where it is? Other than that question the thing is blazing along with no (knock on wood) crash, ghost swipe or any oddity. Great interface.

It was from a third party app  But that's coming to the built-in HiBy Music app soon as well :)

Nice pics Bro!! One of the most elegant and beautiful DAP I've seen!

Good couple with their xb90 rewired?

Isn't that thing sexy?
Just finished Too $hort and no EQ with anything. Gobs of detail and punch. It looks like a winner and sounds like a winner.
U12 ...best DAP I have played them with as far as good match, EX1000 same, I enjoyed the re-cabled xb90ex.
Feels like a boss and powered through the benchmarks like a boss.
Always felt like Android with music with other DAP's. Feels like music with Android now. Joe was obviously involved with this. After the companies on here have recently been making life easier for iphone users this is a nice change where folks who like Droid finally got their boss player.

Am totally stoked.

It's very good to hear it, good for you!!!

What happens with the high impedance? I have heard that, when it is high, the bass is enhanced, does this happen to you?

With what? Did you check the impedance curve? Have you done any measurements? The impedance curve could be giving you the equivalent of an equalizer.

Do you know what the impedance curve looks like for any of these? You've talked about the amount of bass, this could easily be an out of wack frequency response. Can you provide a loaded measurement for any of these?

At least the EX1000 (I assume we're talking about Sonys here) and the xb90ex have flat impedance curves, so of course they play alright with it, they're not really device dependent.

I'd love to see some loaded frequency response graphs with those U12's so we can see what's going on here. If it really has more bass as you've implied, then it's a colored sound. Given the components, I suspect it's not a colored sound. So something else is going on here.
