Hi guys,
I think it's been asked but just noticed I'm only running with a 128gb card. Any recommendations on a 256 or higher?
Thanks in advance!
I'm using a Samsumg EVo 256 GB. No problems.

Yes, the Tidal thing is annoying. I hope it gets resolved. Tidal has some weird issues - I always get a loud popping sound when switching to tracks not on the current playlist from my PC to a McIntosh D1100. I really do think it is something about the Tidal application, as the signal to the McIntosh drops out, at least according to the McDACs display. I suspect (and this is totally me talking out of my butt here), that when Tidal is buffering, it stops talking to the DAC, so the circuitry in the DAC turns off, causing static, then another burst of static when the signal from Tidal cuts back on. I hear very similar behavior from Tidal on the Hiby.

Is there any reason PCM tracks in Hiby Music Player would be noticeably quieter than the DSD file they were sourced from? I took one DSD track and converted it to PCM with Foobar. I scanned with the dynamic range plugin to verify that the RMS and DR values are the same between the two files. In Hiby Music on the R6 I have to increase the volume approx 10 points for the PCM track to be an an equal level. On other Android audio players the volume is equal and both files sound similar to the "quieter" PCM in the Hiby app. It's like DSD is getting a boost from the Hiby app. I also tried setting the Hiby app to output DSD to PCM and it is also louder. I shouldn't need to adjust the volume between two files that have similar RMS. It's not replay gain I checked that. I don't think its the DAC doing something special for a DSD signal since letting the Hiby app convert to PCM also yields the louder result.

I don't mind the louder DSD files. I use a pair of HD650 and can use all the volume I can get. If anything I would love to figure out how to apply this extra gain to all of my tracks equally.

To serve our users' interests, we will be sending an R6 to TIDAL for analysis on their end as well as ours. Here's to hoping that the issue can be replicated when it reaches them! (Because only some users experience this lag)

So the R3 is getting Tidal certification, does that mean it will be able to "unfold" MQA audio? Is there any chance for the R6 to get this?

We're working on MQA certification as well but that is not what TIDAL will be responsible for certifying at their end. (They are kind of a client to MQA just like we will be if I understand correctly)

I can't comment on the MQA possibilities for the R6 at the moment.

I would really like to see MQA on the R6, Joe. I use both Tidal and nugs.net, both of which stream MQA... and I don't have any player to decode it (except the first simple "unfold") at the moment. Hoping the Hiby team will consider it :)

Mines been locked for a while, so I wouldn't get too excited just yet! Still more peoples impressions as they start to get them in would be welcome to liven the thread up a bit!
