HiBy R1 $85 CS43131 DAP Released!

This looks clean. I might pick one up despite the minor problems some are reporting. My m300 is still going strong but I want something even more portable.

It is clean, it's very nice for the money. The firmware is pretty bare bones but I'm sure more features will be added and bugs fixed. Although hiby had the error 13 before. The added a 'standby' setting and that fixed it. It's very portable. Like the size of the older shanling m1. Power output is pretty decent too, with hi gain on. No previous track button is weird but hey you can change tracks with dongle if you use one or BT headphones.

But despite the bugs I do like it because battery is decent and it's damn small.

No but I will, also corrupted one of my files- echos from the pink floyd meddle album. Now the file won't play on my other daps. It said error 9.

The two main things are the error 13 and the volume always going to 20 even though it's set to memory. But when the unit is set down with the screen off when I hit play like after a minute I get the error 13 message and it skips to the next track. Or as I said once in a while after pausing with the screen off it will be on another song.

I don't know why it wouldn't play echos by pink floyd but I'm going to download that onto my cards again. I have done 2 resets and tried 2 different cards card is formated to exfat. I have also turned off resume and such but it still happens.

Just tried it this morning and yep unknown error 13. Very annoying. Now if the screen stays on and it's paused it doesn't happen. But of course don't want the battery draw of the screen being on.

Until firmware update I'm just going to try letting the screen go dark on its own instead of pushing the off button and see if that helps. I messed around with the soundfield and mseb and wow I got a great sound. I think the soundfield works better here than on hiby app. With a more precise Eq I could use this as my daily driver. Most demanding thing I have is mese classics, and it can power them nicely. For iem no problem.

Nope it still gives error even if the screen going off on it's own anything to try Joe? I wouldn't mind shutting it down because it boots fast, but then I have to turn volume up everytime and see that stupid warning message.

Edit, it seems I found a temporary solution. I've engaged the screen saver and it's not doing it. Weird.

Ok it is still doing it, and the clock time changes randomly. Did anyone test this thing out? Also autoslide to playback screen doesn't work. I'm seriously thinking of trying to get a refund. But then I have to ship back to China.

Mine came in about a week to Ohio. What color did you order? Hopefully they get a firmware upgrade soon. Also for anyone not having the error 13 after waking screen back up can you tell me the brand of micro sd card you're using, and how it's formatted?

Never got any Error 13 on mine. It only crashed once on me while using Tidal. It was playing and backed out several times then it just froze and rebooted.

I'm using 1TB Lexar microSD on exFAT.

Thnx, tried SanDisk on exfat and ntsc and still did on both cards. One card was Samsung. I've got files in a folder named music. If I hit the power button to turn off the screen and wait 30 seconds and try to resume it either gives that message and crashes or goes to the next track instead of resuming. I'm sure it's a software thing, I take it you have the volume limiter defeated. I've tried changing my resume settings, and a bunch of other settings and still no luck. I've got screen set for 60 seconds, no sleep timer and no idle shutdown. But it could be one setting that it doesn't like. I've only had this problem once before and firmware fixed it with a standby mode.

But that could have been a hidizs instead of a hiby can't remember.

Joe, is there estimated date of adding promised Hiby Link real support? The thing is I have ordered the player with Hiby Link using in mind.

BTW, I haven't found official R1 support thread. Will it be such one?

Yes, I checked this review and checked with headquarters just now. It is not yet available. An update to enable this is expected next month.
