Head-Fi Basshead IEM thread (lists page 1)

I've been listening to panasonic 120's and they have a lot of bass. I use them in conjunction with a Fiio E6. I don't use the bass boost on the E6, just high gain. You'll definitely be feeling and hearing some kickdrum and bass guitar impact and attack. Very hefty and realistic and weighty.

On certain tracks, I use EQ for a slight treble boost for a bit of balance and sparkle.

I have to admit, for $7, the 120's are pretty darn good. By earbud standards, that is.

Not sure if it has been mentioned before, but I'd highly recommend the <$20 KZ ZS1 for BASS. If the $10 ZN1 mini has similar bass to the ZS1, then I'd recommend those. I can't compare with the XB90EX since I haven't heard them before, but I do own the ASG-2 and 1964Ears V8.

I've already tried bringing up the ZS1 here. Hopefully you have more luck with that.

Just bought the cowon d.
Do you think that d can drive this 2.5 beasts?
easy but an amp will improve the over all sound.

Some great earphones cost jack-all; VE Monk case and point. You can get excellent bass without spending a crap ton if you look in the right places. They should be replacing those JVC 102s on your list.

The 120 are the equivalent of the xb90. The 120 can compete with most earphones that cost up to $500.

If this is not the right thread for this I apologize....but I've searched and couldn't find.

What is the best Comply tip to use on the XB90EX.... I'm wondering does the T/Tx give too much of a bass boost for these already bassy headphones?     Would it be safer to go with th Ts/Tsx?

Also any quick thoughts on the wax vs no wax filter with regards to bass or these IEM's specifically?

Thanks again guys.   Love this thread.

Maybe for your preferences, but I have to strongly disagree, while admitting that I have not heard "most earphones that cost up to $500". The Panasonic 120s are fine sounding but IMO they don't quite compete with the next tier of budget headphones I've heard (mainly due to somewhat muffled & congested sounding upper mids & treble IIRC).

From memory I would say they do have pleasant bass depending on preferences, not really basshead but I never did try eq/boost with them. With "stock sound" they are not so overly boomy as the similarly priced JVC XX, but in sheer quantity and depth the XX takes it. Probably more comparable to the Tenores, though lesser than the Fidue A31, which are both better overall imo. Don't really approach even the unEQ'd/unboosted XB90EX unless you are specifically looking for more of a midbass sound.
