I need to buy a new pair of IEM as I just lost my previous one in the Airport last week.
 
So I'm deciding between Sony XB90EX or AD01 ?
 
I'll be using them from player+amp, but also phone some times. Does the Sony really need amp? I was really curious to check them as I heard good things about their bass for such a long time... So I was just about to get'em, when I just discovered the AD01 which look great and seems are more balanced.
 
Any advice?

Just get both and enjoy.

I say xb 90, some people had issues with ad 01, with cables.

Until the 2 members in this thread get replacements and confirm happiness ...I rec the xb90 as well. I am not aware of anyone having any issues with them.

I have an upgraded cable coming from Singapore for the AD01'S. I can see the cheap cable they initially come with causing my popping sound, by having a short in the really thin wire. I'll keep everyone informed.

So, is the concensus that the XB90 is best on an amped source? If Im using a Clip+ or iPhone 4S only, am I better with Wooduo 2?

Its good eithout a good amp meaning its good with internal amp in your player but with a better amp meaning external you will hear and feel more.

I had the Layla and Roxanne and I have two sets of 90ex. Now I still have both 90exs but sold the Layla and Roxanne.

My facination with stage and detail started with the xb90 and not my 2 sets of Hybrid (A2, 2.5)
Bass is a given but the detail and stage is mind blowing enough to send me on a journey.
 
That all played out in this thread. Me and you and others...there have been other long time members swearing towards the quality of listening that the xb90ex put out.
