Head-Fi Basshead IEM thread (lists page 1)

I had the same thought. I was close to ordering the Legacy 9 but at the time there was a bit of a wait before I'd receive them so like you I decided to wait for more people try them. I've made enough expensive mistakes to last for a while.
I'm not sure about Bggar reviews/rec's anymore. There was a time when he was more basshead focused and I started to think we had the same tastes/opinions. Over time he started recommending/hyping stuff that I found not to be good. I think he might now be into the harmon curve type of sound. As one example, there was a time when he was pushing the Roland as the best IEM (compared it to the Legend X and said it was better) which you could get basshead with EQ. $850 later I have a Roland set and nothing I can do will get much bass out of it.
It doesn't add up for me either, but hey hopefully it turns out to be a basshead legend, always good to have options.

Meh. As much as I like the L3 I take much talk of the thieudio products as a product of linsoul's well tuned marketing machine since it's their brand.

Until it's in enough people's hands with experience and no skin in the game (other than the money they plunked down) I'm not buying into that yet given the specs.... Doesn't quite add up to be frank. Same with the Orb.....

Fair comment :) there's quite a few loving it over here https://www.head-fi.org/threads/thieaudio-legacy-9.927889/ clearly they're not bassheads as there's a lot of talk of doing -3db in the bass 😂😂😂

I'll make sure I give you all an honest basshead review. I own the SZ2000 and TH900mk2 over-ears, and am rocking an svs PB16 Ultra (looking to add a second for lolz soon) in my lounge so I'm fairly well versed in what's considered bassy 😍.

The iFi Micro Black Label should do for desk duty, and Fiio M11 Pro has good 4.4mm balanced power output for walking so I can juice up the EQ well.

Although compact, micro iDSD BL internally is a monster :L3000:

It'll handle cans you listed very effortlessly.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a bass head IEM, specifically focused on the sub bass? I have a lot of bassy IEMs with good sub bass, but I haven’t found one with very loud/prominent sub bass rumble. It may be the limitations due to physics, but I have yet to truly have “subwoofers in my ears”, with that eerie sense of pressurization w/o actual tactile sensations. I do get a lot better sub bass from IEMs than most HPs though. It’s easy to get really potent mid bass slam also.

It sure does! It's a great wee device, sometimes I even strap it to my phone when I go out walking 😂

I used to do run with that sandwich, but iDSD BL has been on my desk at home ever since xDSD lauched :)

Screw it. I'm going to order the 7hz i99.

Penon Orb can wait.

If it’s bass head sound you want, I think that’s the way to go. No Penon Orb sale now anyways.

I was trying different ear tips with the TFZ No.3 today, and I discovered:

If you‘re willing to go through the deep insertion process to get a tight seal, with these dual-flange ear tips, the increase in bass is very impressive. You do get some attenuation of the upper mids/treble though, for better or worse. The isolation is still not great, but that’s because it’s a vented DD IEM.

These ePro horn-shaped tips are quickly becoming my favorite ear tips for several of my IEMs. On the No.3, the bass is more focused and hits really hard, while the sub bass rumble is also more prominent. They don’t suppress the mids and highs either. This is currently my favorite ear tip for the No.3.

Yeah, I added DHL for $28 shipping so hopeful it gets here quick....

The orb can wait for more opinions. It seems similar in description to my TRI I3, so this is the more compelling set when I consider what I could do with EQ/DSP.

Ive just retired my iFi xDSD that I was using with Samsung s10+, and I'm now using a Fiio m11 Pro controlled via FiioLink , needed more power for EQing my iems!

But I've been using an xDSD for the past two years, overall a very good unit, but I'm one who likes to listen LOUD and push EQ power demands haha, plus I was using the xDSD in Bluetooth mode so being able to have source files sitting on the m11 Pro and retain Bluetooth control on my phone has been a wondrous upgrade 😍😍
