Yeah. As we know, there is no perfect headphone. But if the HD25 had a wider soundstage and less sibilance, it would be perfect.
So buy an HD 600

Would want to do that but I usually use my headphone in quite loud environments.

We're right back in HD 25 land again
I dunno, you could look to other DJ headsets. I don't have experience with any to suggest.

ifi DSD black label are the two top contenders.
In spite of it being around for several years, micro iDSD BL is still a viable option. Smaller and easier on a wallet options are xCAN and hip-dac.

I DJ quite a bit and use the HD25s most of the time. Such a versatile and well-suited pair of headphones for that purpose (easy to take on and off, good to wear in different ways, decent sound isolation, sound signature is good for mixing and the genres of music that DJs typically mix). The only other pair I find myself using are the V-Moda Crossfade which I only really use over the HD25s because they're over ear instead of on-ear (and I might prefer over ear depending on the venue etc.)We're right back in HD 25 land again

I really like how HD25 sound like, but I appreciate their tank-alike build quality as well. These were made to last and take beating with no complaints. One of our chaps had to rewire his very old HD25 two times, but other than that he's been perfectly happy.

What mods to the hd25 actually make an appreciable difference to the sound, i did try a pair that had been damped and had a silver plated copper cable and found them too strident?

The aluminums sound better so the lead damping kit would probably be a good idea. Cables change sound for only two types of people, cable salesmen and guys who spent too much on a cable.

I like them all, but HD 600 has a very special place in my heart
