It hasn't been discontinued.  I contacted beyerdynamic a couple of days ago to ask which model they'd recommend for my amp, and they said 600 Ohm version. So its definitely not discontinued.
Also, it on their official website, you can still buy it.

I listen to a lot of jazz, blues, classical, opera, and rock.

I have a little dot mkiv tube amp so can power the 600 ohm models.

Which model would people go for 770 / 880 or 990? Also the 250 ohm pro version are £100 less than the premium options. Is there really £100 difference?

The pro model casings don't look as nice and they clamp harder (at least in the case of the 770, which provides better isolation). For your genres, I would go with the DT880 which to my ears has the most balanced sound. The 770 is bassy, the 990 has more on the top end (nice for rock/cymbals/guitars).

I had a 770 premium a few weeks ago but one side wasn't working properly so I sent in back. The comfort was astounding. Consequently I never got to hear it properly.

I am borrowing a pair of HD600 but they are not as comfortable but keep reading the 990s are better for classical.

If I get the 250 ohm pro versions I can get 2 pairs for the price of one premium.

Don't believe in. The 880s are out of stock now at Amazon UK.

Just being A/B HD600 with my FA-003 and the sound is very similar, so maybe going for a crazy 990 maybe a better option.

imo the 880's are good for an all rounder. They definitely are wonderful when I just want to sit back and relax listening to music.

if the T1 sounds that much better than the 880 I couldn't even imagine. It must be pretty wonderful because I love the sound of my 880. Like rawrster said. "They definitely are wonderful when I just want to sit back and relax listening to music".
One of these days I'll be lucky(or unlucky depending on how my wallet looks at it) enough to listen to the T1.

The T1s are died and went to heaven phones. It was hard for me to give them back at a meet. If it weren't for the price, I'd buy them. My 880s are the ones I put on and it's just the music. From what I've read (on this thread) the 990s are going to have more bass, but you should go back and read what Zombie_X said in his review.

Are you able to hit any meets? There are usually a few Beyers at any Head-Fi meet.
