Just received my Yggy + GS2. I'll remember your advice when I post my thoughts in a week or so. No more "I'm not a professional" from me!

And no one can tell you what is best to your ears , just suggestions. Enjoy the new gear and keep us posted.

Hey all. I have a couple questions about the GH-1 for anyone familiar with it. Does anyone know the best sources of aftermarket parts to customize it? I'm looking for some options on a headband and earcups. I have the G-cush pads on mine but they're getting old and sort of dissolving, leaving black dust on my ears whenever I use them.

Also for anyone familiar with the full Grado lineup, I'm wondering which of the HP's currently available would be an upgrade from the GH-1 and which would be a sidegrade or worse. Upgrade = GS3k, Sidegrade/downgrade = the rest of them maybe? Thanks in advance.

The GH1 is one of the best they've made to my ears, and I use the Grado G cushions with them exclusively.
I'd strongly recommend not blindly selling your GH1 to try another model. If possible--buy/try a current model and if it suits your taste more than the GH1 then sell the GH1 if that's your intention.

Why not the original L-cush pads? I own the GH4, which appears to be similar to the GH1 and GH2. I can't tolerate the sound with G pads. I use L-pads, sometimes with Jarmor ear pad covers for a warmer sound and improved comfort.

I understand it’s tempting, but for my taste I found the perfect model with the GH2. While I also like and intend to keep the original PS500, everything else was a sidegrade at best. And yes, I tried out the GS3000x. Didn’t work for me, especially not at that price.

To me the GH2 sounds best with the original L pads, despite being a bit less comfortable than with the G pads, which shifted the sound signature a bit too much towards lean.

I really like the L pads with my RS2x... Could be ear 👂 shape, but they are very comfortable to me.

The L Pads suck for like a week until they break in. Then they're not so bad.

Edit: to clarify, I mean in terms of comfort

It depends on ear shape and tolerance of course, but I got more used to the L pads over time and also through experimenting with the exact position I now can wear them for long enough — I tend to pause anyway, to get up, fetch fresh tea etc

Another session confirms, to me, again that the original RS-1 “wooden button” is the best of the Grado Reference Series - past & present.

Deep, fulsome bass … midrange with body … extended highs … palpable, wide soundstage. Sheer enjoyment!

Is it just me...? The Gh2 are way behind the Gh1. Gh1 has the attack(with the bass) that we love/need that gh2 are "missing" in my ears. I only own about 20 pairs of Grados and every time I end up with the Gh1... I prefer gh4 over the gh2 as well. Gh Gh Gh Gh Gh ouff 😂
