Look at the cuts, they are like "deeper" on the one at dx
I know... I have a well worn Hemp myself, and its pads do look different from the new unused set I got as replacements. On the new set I can't even see the cuts, although they are there -- I checked

The hemp pads seems similar to the ttvj deluxe flat, now I have a sr325x with mixed pads. I m not sure but I doubt they can change the sound, should I buy a new pair of pads? Here in Italy a pair of flat cost about 40€!

The Schiit Valhalla 2 is not a great tube amp, imo. I didn’t like it because I found it bright and not so smooth. I prefer my MG Head DT and it works great with my Grados in transformer mode.
Respect mate, but I believe you cannot generalize as it very much depends also on what tubes you are using. I have changed both pairs (soviet Foton 6N6P and Tungsram E88CC) so the sound I have, most surely differs from yours.

Cheers.

I also tried changing the tubes but I stuck with the stock power tubes I think. I tried JJ, EH, and Genalex 6922’s. I didn’t really find it very warm sounding and didn’t keep it.

Also I should mention, I never tried it with Grados.

I heard the Valhalla 2 is going to be discontinued?

Plus, one can use 12AU7 / ECC82 tubes, 12AT7 / ECC81 tubes with adapters in lieu of 6N1P / 6922 / E88CC - a fair amount of sonic adjustment is possible in Valhalla 2.

Ah yes, I remember that now. I tried some various 12AU7’s and 12AT7’s in there with the adapters, I thought it was worse.

But I think I was using it mostly as a pre amp and again didn’t try it with Grados.

I'm listening to the original 325 right now, and it is a freaking fantastic tuning. I wish they would bring this back more! I like this better than all their subsequent iterations hands down.

Probably RS1i drivers in this eBay listing?
No way they are “original”. If current market price on an RS1i is $300, then what do you think these restomod RS1 buttons will go for? 2days left
Interesting, I have a pair of buttons that were serviced by grado in Jan 2023, I suspect they had replaced the original drivers with RS-2x drivers. They're getting a lot of my head time. The frequency response is perfect for my ears. I call them my RS-1.5X's. 😁

Spending the afternoon listening to a lot of different music with the RS1x (G pads for a change from L and F pads). Great to be retired!!! :dt880smile:

Although I've never had the opportunity to hear the 325 you have pictured--I've always loved their cylindrical shaped cups.

PS: the original 325 was black aluminum with shorter cylindrical shaped cups and black star drivers.
EDIT: I've owned my 325is for ~10yrs and love their raw Grado sound!
