Rainy day here on the Florida Gulf coast. Decided a perfect day for waxing!

Ha! Just got done 'Howardizing' my four AR10pi's and the wood cabs for my Phase Linear and Marantz gear yesterday.

New member of the Grado family, with the SR80x, they recommended them to me for rock and metal, any suggestions for pads and cases?

Gotta love the Grado family. Every interaction I've had with them has always left a smile on my face, be it re: cartridges or headphones.
Their concern and customer service often is above & beyond the norm of many of the BIG corporate brands.

And there are a wealth of Jimi versions that are all great, mostly from concerts and covers by other artists. Like Clapton Jimi was an avid lover of Blues. He was working on some new directions in his music but his premature passing was such a tragic loss along with what might have evolved for him musically had he lived. Dam the 27 club and the tragedies attached, all that music lost forever.

Looks like yours came with the S pads. You could use the F, L and G pads according to the Grado website. My RS2x's came with F pads but I felt the bass was lacking so I put on the G pads from my 225x's and that helped things out. You can pad roll with the Grado's, and it does change the sound. Dive back into this thread and see what others have done with the SR 80 series. It seems that they've gotten a lot of love over the years. Enjoy.
