I have bought a sr80x for 50€ sold as spare parts cause the left driver was defective. Opened an soldered the wire and now is like new; I see that the drivers seem the same of the hemp and s325x with rear part painted black, the sr60x instead has driver with back labeled

I have found that the nearest to "grado sound" in a different form factor, is when using flat-head ear buds, eg rikubuds, fiio ff3's, etc etc

I have not heard an iem that is similar.

ps ear buds are great, but very open & imho, unusable outdoors or in a noisy environment.

^ The red velcro straps at bottom of cups is to keep the cables from moving and causing noise. Anybody have a more elegant solution?
Grado new cable sheathing is particularly noisy and main reason I sold HF3. Anyways, the velcro straps do a decent job and eliminate noise caused by minor head movements with RS2x and SR60. PS500e and SR325e are much quieter in this regard and dont require such mods. Perhaps the metal cups dont cause or transmit as much sound when cables rub against.

It's a single-BA not a DD but thanks for mentioning them, I completely forgot about them 😅

Did you get a chance to recently listen to both side by side?
i 've heard gr10e and it sounded on the lean side.
If you want single DD iem , I can recommend the JVC FW series however their isolation sucks.

Look what found its way to my doorstep today (quite literally... postal services decided not to try and wake me up at 7:55am but to leave it in front of the house...)

Grado SR325(is/e) has significant bass roll off compared to my other Grado (SR60/80, RS2x, PS500e, and recently 225). Its also the brightest, but is tamed quite well with F-pads. With F-pads it is the Gradoiest of Grado, guitars are so crunchy and delicious, however the bass roll off is a deal breaker for me.

I also tested my SR325e during my summer frequency response measurements. Looks like fabric pads might be a solution to your problem. All of them offer audibly more bass (Dekoni velour turn SR325e into true bass cannons, but veil the sound too much imo), they also change the FR curve to more of a V-shape, given their size and increased distance from the ear.
That being said, fabric pads are quite pricey, but might be worth the investment given the added comfort.

I like it, lol. You can also change the velcro to blue on the left cup for easier channel indication :D

Grado new cable sheathing is particularly noisy

When they released the x series with new cables I really hoped for some improvement in comfort, but they're still fairly stiff and all they did is create a different set of problems.

I am interested in buying an RS2e. I see them sometimes with brown headbands or black headbands, are these necessarily aftermaket or were there production variations? I recall reading something a long time ago about early runs of “e”-series RS (or maybe it was “x”) had protruding drivers that were not flush with cups, then is it known if black or brown headbands were earlier production because Id like to avoid potential issues with drivers.

Thanks for this.
Ill probably add a pair of your pads to my cart when I pickup some headband upgrades.

I was curious to compare SR325e to RS2x yesterday since I found them both slightly bass deficient in different ways and wondered which would be preferable. Ill post impressions later but you can now see I am wanting to try RS2e…

The RS2e actually has slightly less bass than the SR325e.
