DT880 with more bass than HD650? This can't be true. People talk of the HD650 being dark, warm and bassy. While the DT880 neutral, sometimes sterile and not enough bass for some users tastes.

I haven't heard the DT880 properly amped so I can't say. I have the 990/600s and they're bass machines. I don't think the 650s are too bassy at all, but maybe thats just because I'm accustomed to the more powerful bass of my T1s and 990s.

I prefer metal on my 990s probably because they're a bit less detailed. Everything is "creamier" on them and more relaxing. I only listen to black metal, though. I listen to black metal primarily for its atmospheric qualities (I don't listen to it analytically). Favorites are Burzum, Emperor, Bathory and Gorgoroth.
