Focal Clear Mg Review & Measurements

CST,
Thanks for the clarification.
Have you looked at the ZMF Auteur?
I'm going Stax . . . for the time being.

Not yet. I just ordered a pair of Meze Empyreans - going to try those out for a while. I have a friend who keeps trying to get me to order some Audeze LCD-4's, but I keep hearing conflicting reviews about the sound signature being too varied. Plus, I've got a litany of rectifier tubes I've gotta burn in and review before I move on to the next level.

Also, the Tara arrived yesterday - it's a life-changing experience!

Any pics of the Tara? : )
I had the Empyreans for a while . . .

What did you like/dislike about the Empyrean? Curious as to your thoughts...

Nice-looking cable! Wish I could hear it with the Ananda. (Am driving the Ananda directly from the Dussun T6 integrated, and it sounds the best ever. Listening to the "Notorious Byrd Brothers".)

The Empyrean sounded too midrange prominent and middle-of-the-road to my ears, lacking the (ultimate) HF and LF extension I prefer.

I have a set of Stax SR-007 Mk.1 (the earliest and purportedly best version) and a Mjolnir KGSSHV eStat amplifier on the way.

Meanwhile the SR-L500 Mk.2 w/Mjolnir SRD-7 + Dussun T6 are fitting the bill:

This Clear MG has the best midrange I have ever heard from any headphone or audio device for that matter. The nuance, resolve, and delicacy is incredible.

I'm not even typically a midrange guy but these things are simply magical.

Just wait until you hear Focal Utopia!

But, yes, for under $2000 the Clears, are as good as any.

Received my Clear MG today and I love the sound - but I feel them to put quite some pressure above my jaw
Hopefully I get used to that or they losen up a bit after some usage
Any experience?
Cheers,
Tomi

My have strong clamping force.

Don't forget to register new Focal headphones to extend warranty period.

Thanks for the impressions, so, @Ichos you had that first hand experience, that the clamping force gets better, even though its a all metall headband?
I would love to keep them because of the sound, but I am worried about them to stress me while I wear them

Yes after sometime of use the clamping force will loose.
You can also try, very carefully to open it a little.
The headband is very sturdy so don't be afraid to do it.

I rather would like to take some time first and see if usage alone will adjust that headphone to my head, it has to, because my hearing adjusted already to them very much :)

I received the Dekoni perforated earpads today and I really like the feel of leather on my ears. They are actually very comfortable, and I prefer the look and color to the brown OEM pads.
Sound-wise on the low and mid end they do sound very similar, and on the high end they do need a little boost. Using Resolves EQ profile for the for the Dekoni Perforated pads I was able to make them sound really nice to my ear.
