I'm going to take a black marker and write Hugo 2 on the portable headphone amp I have. I want to see how much better the Clear sound.

Just wanna share some thoughts after comparing the clear and elear side by side. Test album is "Flamenco" by Pepe Romero etc.. Dac is chord mojo and amp is metrum aurix (in high gain). First thing I noticed is that the clear is slightly less efficient than elear. It surprised me as the clear has lower impedance. Sonic impressions: the difference between the two is very minor. The elear conveyed the force of the tapping in the first 2 tracks better. The clear sounds somewhat softer in that regard. On the other hand, the clear has better imaging specificity. In the second track of that album, the dancer moves around while tapping on the floor. Through elear I could hear the spatial location of the dancer clearly. The imaging of elear is pretty good indeed. However, the clear excels elear in imaging solidity. Imaging on the elear sounds a bit diffused and smeared, compared to the clear. Sound stage on 2 headphones is equally small. Details retrieval seems to be the same - I cannot hear more details when switching from one headphone to another.

Top headphones like top speakers need the highest quality dac to do them justice, try a Hugo 2 and you will see what top headphones can achieve.Mojo ain't good enough,400 pound dac against 1500 pounds headphones, strange

Easy there UK Cowboy! Lol He hasn’t stated anything imperical, it’s his impression and that’s fair. We all know the better the front end typically the better the sound we hear through any headphone or speaker. :)

Nice to have you back wildman!

Hugo 2 has changed my life,I've banged on about it's what your ears get use too and it becomes the norm after a while but I've had my Hugo 2 nearly a month and I'm still as blown away as I was when I first listened to it
When I first heard the mojo it blown my mind. However, after a while I get used to it. According to your impression, the hugo 2 seems to be in a completely different league.

It's just my opinion,I don't exaggerate what I'm hearing though, you can take the Hugo 2 outside with top iems connected to your phone and its like its hardwired into the national grid, blows my mind,I'm old school so I'll never get my head around something portable that sounds so amazing,it's a great time for hi-fi,kids are being more switched on to lossless music

Hi Arthur,
it is excellent you are so precise!
I agree with your impressions.
The Clear with its flatter FR and little more precision is more definitely reference. Its energy being softened down compared to the other two Focals, its can please more people and is more an all-rounder. On the other hand the Elear with its better attacks and dynamics and slight bass emphasis is more fun for listening to metal and hardrock.
