Okay since you guys turned this into a cable porn thread, my turn:

It seems I'm going to get in on the DHC love as well. It's the Clone Silver, completed with gold/copper/black hardware. Color scheme should be amazing on either my Legend X or Dream XLS. There will definitely be some pairing adultery in my near future while I figure out who loves who.

nothing does it for me like some proper cable porn

And on the topic of DHC

As an aside from the DHC circle jerk that’s going on right now, I’ve got a question with regards to “body.” After dipping my toe into the world of speakers, I’ve come to a few more realizations with regards to the kind of sound I prefer. I used to lust after large, wide, airy soundstage, usually achieved through a V shaped signature, but a few months ago, I underwent a somewhat life changing experience with a PMC MB2se. At first, I didn’t realize what I was in for. I listened without thinking there was anything too special. Once I went home, I fired up my own pair of speakers and realized the error of my ways. My own speakers sounded like a reverse L now, with lots of treble and a lot less bass and mids, thin and unsubstantial. I realized at that moment that the MB2se had a sound that almost combined the density of my iems with the soundstage of speakers. Images were so solid and real, so close to what I was used to with iems, that I neglected to realize that these were a pair of speakers I was listening to, and that the body these speakers were putting out is what made them special.

I used to think i want iems that put out expansive out of head soundstage, and I still appreciate it, but I think the strength of iems lies in body and instrument density. Herein lies my problem. I’m looking for an iem with even body throughout the midrange, from 200hz up to 8khz. my own A12t, to me at least, sounds less dense than I would like in the 2-6k region, which results in thinner sounding female vocals and splashy cymbal strikes. iems like the VE5 have the density up top that I’m looking for, but pale when it comes to lower midrange density. However at the same time, too much body seems to result in some nasally sounding tonality, something I had trouble with the Solaris in the lower registers, where double basses sounded congested and muffled.

What’s a ciem you enjoy with just enough bass and treble and a neutral but dense sounding midrange?

TLDR: Basically, what’s some good male and female vocal stuff?

Dang! Those DHC cables really do look good. The parts they use look like such good quality and this seems like a very comfortable cable as well.

@pithyginger63 - if you can avoid the pricetag snobbery and the lack of custom model, the Astell & Kern Diana has just the sort of midrange / low end "meat" you are after in the sound. Once you get used to it, it's no slouch technically either - not quite at "TOTL" level, but at about 1/4 of the price of some of the cheaper flagship models these days, worth an audition if you can.

Elysium - best vocals i've heard to date due to the dynamic driver doing the mids

By this point I’m just spamming the same IEM over and over but nothing beats the midrange of the elysium imho

The Elysium is great and all but by god it is expensive.

AK Diana seems interesting, I’ve always had some interest for JH gear though I don’t often get to demo them.

Though I think I should clarify that I’m not sure that the body I refer to is bass body. I’m not too certain what words I should use, but what impressed me most with the PMC speaker I heard was actually female vocal density. It wasn’t the most natural I’ve ever heard but boy was her voice dense. It also didn’t have that blurriness and pseudo-largeness I get from center images all the time. Perhaps it is a matter of bass, but I think there is more at play here.

Sorry, didn't explain it well myself. The Diana isn't an overly bassy IEM, it just has a great sense of power and body in the lower midrange, tailing off slightly into the upper mids. It might give that sense of "density" and solidity that you are searching for.

Now you’re talkin, I gotta try that for myself for sure! Thanks for the rec!

Received the Campfire C/2019 Q4 today. Very happy with its sound so far. Resolution way above its peers at this price, and it's highly transparent as well. It has this flat signature, not warm, but accurate in its portrayal of vocals, acoustic guitars, and violins. Not very good at the low end, but it never felt anemic or becoming too thin. It has just enough power for its bass, and drums with priority to its accuracy, speed and quality. :)
