85.0 on Aether versus 85.1 on Deca... geez, talk about close game.
Yeah there will be a couple more close finishes coming up. But I've put a lot of thought into the score of each aspect, and the final score is just the end result. For instance, even though Aether and Deca overall share a fairly similar signature, Deca has better quality bass, and greater transparency for instance. Aether in turn has more precise imaging and separation. I think I can argue these are objective differences.

And this is only comparing two iems.. In the end, each score has to be relatable to every iem in the shootout. So if a score for midrange is 83, it needs to be objectively better (when it comes to forwardness, density, body and tone) to an iem that scores 80, and worse than one scoring 86. The 86 in turn needs to be worse than an 89, etc. It results in endless comparing and tinkering of the chart.

Well, none of my top 5 guesses have been ranked yet by nick so that's nice...

Don't worry...your top 5 guesses will probably be the first 5 next in line to follow :ok_hand::wink:

Edit: Oh wait... I just saw that your #1 & 2 are also in my top 5...so please don't let the above prediction be true :scream:

all 3 ciems that have been reviewed so far have been priced around 1100$ , so i think they are still fantastic value-for-money and great picks for people on a budget/not rich enough

and i don't think anyone would expect them to sound better than a 1800-2500$ ciem , and it's normal

this is a rich man's game unfortunately if you want that extra 5-10%

nice job Nic

ps : have we reached a final prediction/points awarded procedure ?

also 23 people have already been ''eliminated'' so far from picking all 5 ciems correctly (by having at least 1 of the 3 already reviewed ciems in their lists...)

curious if picking 4/5 correctly makes you a candidate for winning the prizes (depends on how the points scoring goes perhaps?)

$1,000 or $3,000 or $500 aint important. I know a few people who have and had $2,000 iems and are now as happy with $ 600 iems. I know millionaires who will never spend more than $50 for and iem. My pount is a $600 or a $ 300 can sound better than a $2,000 iem.

Can be much less than $600 can be half of $600. Such as the IT03 or a used Shure 846.
