First Impressions of the new Beyerdynamic T70p

[Luv My BASS 1]

Considering the T70p to be my first real high end headphone. I'm coming from the V-Moda M80, a headphone who's sound signature I could not have loved more, but the comfort is abysmal. Can the T70p handle songs with bass (EDM, Hip Hop) and make them enjoyable?

I find the T70's bass to be very deep and punchy, but only when called for. No, you won't feel the bass slam listening to bluegrass (I don't know what bluegrass actually sounds like) but you shouldn't either. A basshead can like the M80 has loads of bass impact on every song, regardless of what was originally intended. A can like the T70 only brings out the punch when it's truly warranted. As you look like a basshead to me (Luv my bass 1), I'm not sure the T70s will be able to provide that "in your face" bass you are used to. I would say the T70s are more comfortable than the M100s, yet the M100s definitely seem to better fulfill your preferences.

At the $550 price range, there are quite a few options for you to consider. An open headphone that I think you'd love is the Hifiman HE-400. As an ortho, it's able to render that bass you seem to love, while also conveying greater detail (and midrange presence) than the M80/M100. For a closed 'can, check out the Denon D600. I've only heard the now discontinued DX000 series, but the D600s should sound similar; A smooth top end with a large bass hump.

Lastly, for true portable use (which the T70P isn't actually designed for), the Sennheiser Momentums might be right up your alley.

One interestiong thing about T70, is that bass goes extremely low when needen. It can be really sub.. and still clear. But only when needed. These cans do not emhasize these frequencies like many others.

I only heard the T50RP shortly at a meet. They were not modded and they are the total opposite of the T70. I like everything better with T70 compared to the Fostex. But you might prefer a darker sound than the thin airy sound from T70 - I do not. But I feel safe to say the two are some of the most different headphones you can find in every aspect.

Is it okay if I ask for other headphone in this thread? What I notice is T 70 P seems too bulky for portable purposed. So now I'm looking for other brand that offer something that is more portable, or even cheaper the better. Tried T 70 P last time, I think that's the best headphone I ever tried. Tested unamped from my Gnote 2, sound totally better than my FA-003. Tested with DACport from a laptop, it's night and day compared to my FA-003. I'm not a fan of V Moda M 100. Bass too heavy and on ear is really not my type. And not really suitable for all rounder genre.

I also interested with T 50 P, DT 1350 and seems like coming T 51 P are promising. I can ignore on ear but from what I read, forumer that wearing glasses faced some issue with these two. And I'm wearing Weezer like glasses, plastic frame glasses. I think I'm already out topic.

I wear the same type of glasses and the DT1350's actually work ok for me. While my glasses make them a little less comfy they don't prevent you from getting a good seal and I've found that because of how small the cups are on the DT1350, I can actually put my glasses over the top of them instead of underneath the pads, if that makes sense.
 
Having tried several full size cans, many with leather or pleather pads, I wouldn't expect there to be any issues with the T50p as far as glasses are concerned.

The original review is kinda confussing when it talked about whether or not an amp is nessasary, since it mentions the T5p so much. I use my T70p with and iPod Touch 5. It sounds decent but I wonder if there is still for improvement. Are there and portable amps that work with the iPod Touch 5's digital output?

I don't know which amplifier will be right for you. But improvement with even portable amp is audible.
As T70 are rather bright you can try with FIIO as FIIO tend to be a bit warm sounding.
