First Impressions of the new Beyerdynamic T70p

Pictures of the connectors are here
The female panel mount mini XLR has too large of a diameter to work in the Beyer phones. There is a clearance issue between it and the driver plate. We can use the connectors in the link or we can use the same connectors used on the HiFiMan headphones. Those are the only 2 options that will work.

ok thanks. So what about my 2nd part of the question (detachable cable with stock, without buying a moonaudio cable?)

It should be any phone I can do the detachable mod on. But have to confirm once you ask for a specific phone. Opening up all headphones I have in sock to see what will and wont work is a huge undertaking:)

Since I only had a short chance to have the demo phones. I did not have a lot of time to compare to the DT770. I only compared to the T5p. Tough to say. Will have to wait until the first shipment arrives for more listening.

Hi Drubrew,
Thanks for the reviews.  If you had to put a dollar amount on the improvement over the DT770 what would it be?

Has anyone compared the T70 to the DT770 600 Ohm model? I am looking to upgrade my Dt770 250 ohm premium but if the T70 isn't much better than the 600 ohm version Dt770 I stand to save some money.

In my opinion it is definitely an improvement in transparency and neutrality.  Overall the T70 is, IMO, the better headphone.

hi skylab,

what about the soundstage presentation...
is the T70 presented more like the dt770, or tending towards the T5p?
( i liked the dt770 becos of its wide left to right staging...the t5p sounded less so ..to my ears. :)    )

I did not have them to compare directly, so not sure I can comment on the soundstage.  I find that my memory of soundstage effects is much more fleeting than it is for tonality.

Are the mids less recessed then dt770? Love the bass on my dt 770 250 ohm but in some music and movies, the speech is a bit recessed. Would love the same bass but less recessed mids and closed headphones.

The mids and bass are better on the T70.
