It's amazing a single BA driver FI-BA-SS can do!!!

What drew me to these was the simplicity of the design and no crossovers. And of course, the aesthetics. Now that I own them, they may supplant my IE 800 as my favorite.

The other thing I like about the AKR02 is even though it is highly detailed there is no fatigue whatsoever. The upper frequency presentation is awash with micro detail including subtleties I've not heard before with other IEMs.

I'm using my AK240SS as a transport connected to a Mojo for reference sake.

How's the bass?

The bass is surprisingly good for a single BA driver, I really love it.
This BA driver is made by Final Audio themselves and they are very special.

Yup, that's the amazing part of FI-BA-SS. The Ck100pro is same detail king but tends to cause fatigue after long listening with it.

I owned IE800 too and imo IE800 don't sounds as good as FI-BA-SS.

funny story; when i realised my Grado GR10e's weren't good enough anymore, after intensive online research, i found that the IE800 would be the optimal replacement.

Luckily I found a place to try them out. it took me only a few seconds to realise that these were so far away from what I was looking for. then my dealer brought out some final heaven series (if i recall correctly), which i all discarded for lacking in places. and then he came up with the FI-BA-SS. love at first hear.

the IE800 is lacking too much in the mid to higher mids for me.

Yes, I agree with you here. The AKR02 is becoming a revelation for me.

I had always been wary of bright sounding IEMs because any sibilance really takes away from their enjoyment. Consequently, my purchases over the last few years have been toward warmer sounding designs. The AKR02 shows me highly detailed upper frequencies don't have to be sibilant.

Someone said there is a custom tip for the Piano Forte series to make it fit better. Has anyone tried that?

That sounds strange, part of the point of the PF is that it just sits in the ear with absolutely no seal

I'm interested in the Piano Forte IX. This, though, looks like something that has to be tried on before a purchase.

I have custom tips for my FI-BA-SS. maybe you confused the two?

Apparently the Piano Forte are supposed not to have a fit. you should probably wrap a rubber band around your head to stop them from falling out :p

When I had the PF VIII I used them with the cable over ear and that worked well
