It's the same in Poland. Parcels from China get delivered to my door without hassle, but whenever I order from the UK, everything gets stuck in customs because contents need to be declared and taxed appropriately. AliExpress now charges VAT at purchase for orders from EU, so the declaration and clearance procedure is avoided.
Ditto. I have stopped ordering anything from the UK. Not worth the hassle. It's easier, faster and cheaper to order from USA or China. UK is dead for me.

Some deals:

JBL Quantum 400 Gaming headset 44€ / MediaMarkt & Saturn (GER)

Sennheiser HD 599 91€ (Amazon.DE)

Buying from Amazon UK and shipping to Ireland is hassle free in terms of customs and duration. They take the UK VAT off at checkout and apply local VAT estimate, you then see the total price in euro - I've often had refunds when they've charged a bit too much. They can charge local VAT in countries where they have a registered entity.

Snip below is for a £249.99 item, at checkout it becomes €311 (if you chose a currency guarantee), about €15 more versus a currency exchange of £249 to euro. Prime also so no shipping.

Anyway, moral of the story - if in an EU country, still worth checking Amazon UK for deals!

Amazon might still work well, they have the full setup and systems to handle cross-border transactions.

Not so the smaller players - with most of them you must go through all the import hassle yourself (Amazon does it on your behalf) and it’s these smaller players who have lost their Continental customers.
