My K340's are pretty crappy for gaming. I have trouble telling whether the sounds are in front or behind me. The SA5000's, on the other hand, have excellent placement and I never confuse the location of sounds. YMMV, of course.

The SR-007 are great for gaming!

Speed, details, soundstage are the three first words that pop up in my head...

I'm probably biased, because these are my favourite, but I really think that the A900s are the best gaming cans.

You could easily be right about your pair. K340's are known to vary and if you are using velour pads, that would improve the soundstage.

Yes, yes I'm a hater.

Gaming is an escape. Like music. Both serve to isolate you from the world. So it iss good.

AD700
AD900

I am pretty sure both fit under Open no Amp... but you may want a second opinion...

Ahh this is the thread I was looking for... Edit: Where are you finding the DT 770/80's for $140? I keep finding them at $200-$250 USD.

140 new, are the 03 models.. But I'm sure you could get the 05/06 model 770's used for 140 or so..

i dont think there really is a category for the ultrasones, for the first 1000~ hours ( very rough estimate ) they will sound like garbage without an amp, then they reach a point, where they magically sound delicious, er.... great without an amp.

Someone just made a statement saying "140 new, are the 03 models" as if they were no longer a current model in the Beyer catalog. That is not true! Both the dt770/80 Pro and consumer 2005 dt770/80 are current models.
re: $140 mentioned above - the usual sources have been 2 eBay vendors who have BIN AND also best offer. Successful best offers have been about $145........also Guitar Center Stores have been a regular source - just don't accept their asking price. Dicker with them. If you intend to have them modded into Darthbeyers - if you do the whole thing at once, Larry will sell a new pair of dt770/80 as part of the deal. Also, from time to time I see used pairs on the Head-Fi F.S. page.
IMO Denon D2000 do not hold a candle to dt770/80 for gaming. Yes, I own both. OTOH, stock dt770/80 do not hold a candle to D2000 for music.......Darths are best for both music and gaming.

I would have thought the d2000 would be good for gaming. What's wrong with it?
