DUNU DK-4001 --- Discussion & Impressions Thread

I love these. Mine might be around 20hrs-ish too, I suppose, if that makes a difference.

I agree with the above - and I find that they’re engaging. I don’t know why this comes to mind, but the best way I could describe this aspect (at least right now) - is: these headphones have a (glorious) story to tell. And you will sit the bloody hell down and listen. Other times, the story will make you want to get up and dance. But, regardless, this is the DK-4001’s story. It just...commands. I like it.

My two cents on the soundstage from my experience so far: to me, the soundstage feels more like a studio or small venue experience. And while this means imaging width is slightly limited at times, it is actually complimented nicely by the IEM’s impressive vertical imaging. Edit 28Dec19: ok, these have opened up a bit, or something. There’s some width for sure!

It has been a while since I tried ‘reviewing’ IEMs, so thanks for bearing with me, and if anything isn’t clear just ask :).

I am trying the Sony ZX-300 with these today. Not sure if they will synergize. (They sound preeeeeeettyyyyyyy dammnnnn good out of just the iPhone dongle though...).

All my humble opinion of course.

Where can I listen to the DK-4001 in Holland or England (will be visiting London in January).

Currently, we only have an online retailer in the UK actively obtaining stock from us: https://www.advancedmp3players.co.uk/

HiFiHeadphones.co.uk used to be one of our retailers, and they had a physical showroom, but for reasons that remain unclear, they stopped actively obtaining stock from us.

We have tried this before in the past at audio shows, purposely not telling people what is inside or how much it might cost. The "blind" feedback helps us determine whether it's a worthy product. However, with reviews, it's more difficult, because reviewers will ask us what kind of drivers are inside, etc. Reviews also help potential customers determine whether a product is good value for money, so knowing the asking price is critical. So agreed, while price does skew peoples' perception of quality, it is difficult to implement blind reviewing in real life.

Our China marketing executive suggested checking out Ethereal Sound (天域联达), which is close by inside the sports stadium. They carry a wide array of products and brands, including ours! Hope this helps!
yeah that could be difficult indeed. but this is possible if u give to some of the notable reviewers at headfi, maybe 2 to 4 reviewers. they will give there impressions/reviews on that item and make a select comparison with some iems regardless of the price. once the reviewers published their reviews, then reveal the price of the product.. there s a lot of reviewers out there think that if the iem is priced higher than the other, it should be superior sounding..

It's a good idea, definitely. Give us some time to think about how do best do it. We'd also need a small group of reviewers willing to participate in such an event. However, we might have a few upcoming products that we can do this with.

What is the difference between the earfit and the "light" earfit? Also which version is the long nozzle your are referring too? Thanks.

It looks like they sell SednaEarfit and SednaEarfitLight the Earfit version has a longer nozzle, the light the shorter nozzle.

Personally I recommend the JVC SpiralDots or the ikko i-Planet Memory Foam Eartips they both work well, but the Ikko foam tips will stay in my ear's when used with the 4001 unless I use a wrap of tape or something to keep them on, the fit is that good.

You guys are the best; thank you. I’ll check out mtmt and the ikkos - always looking for alternatives to Comply - thanks!

For some reason I never could get the large JVC spiral dots to seal in my ear. Which is probably just me. They were nice though.

Anyone try the Symbio W’s with these yet?

I think the Light versions are thinner silicone. The short nozzle is called short. If it's just the EarFit than its the long nozzle.

Sedna EarFit - Long Nozzle Normal Silicone
Sedna EarfitLight - Long Nozzle Thinner Silocone
Sedna EarFit Short - Short Nozzle Normal Silicone
Sedna EarFitLight Short - Short nozzle thinner silicone

I just ordered Long Nozzle Normal and Light in Size L from MTMT. Let's see how this goes.
