Couldn't get enough volume out of the portable on this one. Below 50Hz is noise.

Great stuff, j-curve!

I don't know exactly for what it's worth, since all curves are equalized to the HD 580, which logically isn't really flat itself, but it's nevertheless highly interesting and shows how large the deviations from a flat response can be with headphones, mostly without being noticed as clear colorations. That's a notable difference to speakers.

Great work J-Curve.

now where's the CD3000, W2002, HD600, K401, HP890, HP910, and the beyers? please

as an ath ad10 ex-owner, i can see a lot of symmetry with gerG's ad10 curve. what bothers me is all the ath curves

most of the ath's look like they should exhibit the same type of failings as the ad10s - missing vocal octaves and bloom. i was quite surprised with the dissimilar curves of the a1000 and w1000. the ad7 reminds me of the w2002. the a700, a900, and a1000 scare me. i was quite pleased with the k501 curve. i see merit in the cd2000 curve. the w100 at 4700Hz to 6300Hz suggests, to me, missing cymbal and bell transients (same with the ad10). what's up with the hd280? the hd590 suggests, to me, very slightly sibilant vocals (at 3000Hz to 4000Hz). if i could conceive what the dt831 would look like, i'd pick the hd590 curve. well at least from 800 hz and up. i think the hd590 probably does male vocals better. the a100ti suggests a worse sound, if not as bad, as the ad10.

now we need a chart where musical instruments are deliniated by their frequency energy.

which headphones interested me after seeing all the curves? w100, hd590 and cd2000. maybe i'll even go back and give the hd590 another listen. nah, i don't like stinking eggo shapes. they just don't feel right on my ears.
