Cowon J3 Impressions Thread

Someone please convince me of the benefits of these user customised UIs - include links and screenshots if you can - cos I have zero issues with the stock Cowon one (now that I've arranged just the ircons I need onto the first page)

Let me take Aero Music as example:
- It adds support for multiple dynamic fave lists
- There's a link in the music UCI to an EQ editor (you don't have to leave the music screen, open the settings and navigate to Cowon's EQ editor anymore)
- There is a mini browser which shows all tracks of your current playlist
- There are optional links to create a playlist based on the current artist or on the current album
- Better design/usability
- Very customizable

And my mainmenu Chakra:
- Variable number of desktops (1 - 10)
- Custom icons: You can create icons which open for example a certain game or an app
- Better widgets than Cowon's ones (such as a HTC Android clock, a clock like clockr for Android, a slideshow widget,...)
- Better design/usability
- Very customizable

The last point is the trademark of my UCIs. They are the most customizable UCIs you can get for the J3 and the S9.

Bring back dkft's grumpapuss x1

I miss it already. It reminds me of that Robert Scull story that ran as an animated short on cartoon channels a bunch of years ago called, Grumpy Bug. Sandra Bernhard narrated and it's frickin' hilarious.

@dfkt, I think your avatar was one of the best.  It's your brand.

It's like if McDonald's decided to use a "Q" as its trademark.

EDIT: I think I found an suitable alternative for the haters:

Totally...I'm probably the grumpiest, most miserable old person on this or any other forum, and your avatar always brings a smile to my face, lol.

Aside from that...Kizune, thanks for the tips, I didn't realize that the stuff scrolled, lol.  Now I have everything working out fine with the Aero UI, and I REALLY like it.  I had completely removed all of the prior installation, and didn't realize that I ONLY needed to replace the music.swf file, but now that I's all sorted it's fantastic.  REALLY like the ease of use with building playlists and editing EQs.

Heh, you're all right, after all, it's just an avatar...

Sorry for more off-topic. Here's its origin, by the way: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PTJZqeEV-m4

I sent my J3 back to Amazon last week and received my refund this morning (see reason).

I furiously reevaluated my J3 purchase during the "in transit" process, wondering if I should replace it with another or go with something different.  I came back to the usual suspects:
-- Samsung P3
-- Sony NWZ-A850 (available by "grey market" import only for me)
-- Cowon D3
-- Cowon X7
-- Apple i.....nah, that was a dumb idea.

Although I yearn for more in a DAP, the J3 is really the best one on the market today - so I purchased it again.  Now I just have to wait a few more days for it to arrive.

I've had my J3 for a couple months and my HM601 for around 6 weeks or so. Originally I was planning on keeping both players but not so sure anymore. The battery really does bug me on the 601 but it sounds amazing. The J3 sounds very good and with really good battery life. Decisions are so hard to make :p

I could probably sell either for $200 or so and that could be a bit less than halfway towards a dac for home use.

Hi Kizune, or anyone who has an answer to my query,
I would like to know if a classical music genre lover, which is what I am, would like the file system of the J3. I have the FuzeV2 now and just like the Sansa250R I also have, it changes the info of the piece, usually a symphony or concerto so that instead of getting for instance, Beethoven Violin Concerto, I get say, Leonard Bernstein Violin Concerto, Bernstein being of course "the Artist." Then I go and change it on my pc and lo and behold, the darn thing has changed it back. Can't us symphony lovers get some respect? Jeez!!! I'm hoping that I'll have more authority over what I like the musical piece to be called when I get the J3. I 'll be so happy if I can get that that the sheer thrill of it will make everything sound better, a kind of placebo effect ( HaHa, Half in Jest)The UIs of the Sansas are so fickle and inflexible, I find. So, what's the scoop on that?
