Unfortunately not in a position to comment on that - but it would be interesting (especially the difference in speed/decay). I know when I first decided on the HD600, I spent around 30 minutes comparing the 650 and 600. The HD600 won me over by its natural presentation - still does today.
Thanks - that would be a very interesting comparison looking at the graphs!
Kind of a "Zombie" thread but I ran into some HD700s for sale and came to the obvious place for some reviews/comparisons. Before even seeing this graph, the descriptions I read regarding the 700 vs the 600 sounded very much like differences between the 600 and 650.
Granted, there was more talk of the 700s treble but that wasn't always positive. As far as a preference between the 600s and 650s, mine runs the opposite of Brooko's. I've owned both at the same time and was loath to sell the 600s but was broke so one pair had to go, at least temporarily.
I do regret selling them because it turned out that the money shortage wasn't that serious. I wouldn't
exchange them for my 650s but there are some recordings where the 600s presentation would be preferable...just not
most of the time for me personally,
I appreciate the great review Brooko as reading it was
very informative and helpful. I'll save my money for now and keep enjoying my HD650s. Running them balanced with a silver/gold aftermarket cable leaves me wanting little
while listening.
Regardless, I'll admit to once in awhile getting bit by the "headphone bug". In fact It bit me bad enough two days ago that I replied to an ad for some mint HD600s for $280 (CAD). I wanted to re-ad them to my set-up for variety's sake as we3ll as those times when they
are preferable...somebody else beat me to the punch
What I've determined from reading this review is that I'd rather own both the 650
and 600 than the 700 on it's own. As a bonus, both 6XXs together cost less than the 700 so I better not listen to them, just in case...
