  excusez moi

This all started i think by me misspelling muah, or a french kiss sound for my thoughts of TT and gsx mk2 powering hd800S, sorry for the digression.

It would have been really really nice if you had simply explained what your thoughts were. I would still like to know, if you have the time.

It might just be that the toslink cable you have has a large headed plug on it. I recently found a toslink plug with an oversize head that would not fit in the recessed connection in a different DAC. Often the plugs are plastic and it's possible to reduce the outer casing diameter without compromising the innerds of the plug.
No thats not the case here. The toslink connection lies too deep in the chassi. And the hole is to narrow for my supra cable to connect. The including toslink cable was a lot thiner at the edges so it did reach in to connect.

We are talking at slight cross purposes. The Supra cable you show has exactly the oversize plug head/casing on it that I was talking about. What I do is take out my hobby knife and cut down the plug head/casing so that it can get deep in the recess and allow the actual toslink head to go in the socket.

https://goo.gl/images/w6iSgQ yeah you can see it clearly here to the far right, here how it should not be with the toslink connection.

And here correct https://goo.gl/images/pg92PW

It's not just the Hugo that falls foul of the (stupidly?) oversized toslink plug heads. My Dave also dislikes them and my the hobby knife has had to be used on more than one occasion to make them fit the Dave.

I wouldent blame the cables.

No, I blame the stupid people who buy the stupid cables (including me). The oversize plug heads bring nothing to the party apart from making the cables too clunky for easy normal use. Obviously in an ideal world the recessed hole for the toslink connection would be bigger but its not a big deal for me. Nice to see the flush one on Hugo2 though.  And don't get me started on stupid foo type mains connection plugs!

Quality cables are usually thick, maybe because of sheilding from outside interference.
From supras website about there toslink cable.
"Interference immune - does not react on magnetic, electro magnetic or electrical noise fields
No radiation - does not radiate harmful noise fields
Immune to household electricity - does not add any noise like in many electrical signal transmissions
Complete galvanic isolation - Allows for interconnections between devices with separate earth potentials and phase, e.g. computer, TV and home cinema"
