BGVP discussion thread DM7/ DM6/DMG and NEW BA series

Some initial thoughts on the DM6 after around 3 hours of listening.

They are very easy to drive. I used my iPhone 7 running the Tidal iOS app. I looked around in the little cardboard box in the packaging and found three different packets of tips. One of those packets contained foam tips so I tried those as I don't like silicone tips. The DM6 feels more comfortable to wear compared to my AKG N40. It's not for bassheads though as the bass is there but not prominent. The sound signature reminds me of my beyerdynamic Amiron Home over-ears and that's a huge compliment to the DM6 IEMs. There's a ton of space with good instrument separation.

I then tried them with my iFi Nano iDSD Black Label portable DAC connected to my iPhone 7 using an OTG Lightning-USB cable. I used the iEMatch headphone port. The sound was noticeably improved and the volume control didn't need to go past the 11 O'Clock position. The sound had added weight.

All in all, i'm glad I waited the two months for these to arrive. They're going to be great travelling companions and for my long evening walks.

So happy to find a DM6 response curve which seems correct.

Very nice color should say. This color and clear version perhaps was most popular so manufacturer usually have other colors first. For me all colors that i saw are nice - only transparent makes dm6 have more identity.
Bay the way have you tested these with electronic music? How does it sound in low register as these are neutral. Low frequencies isn't too neutral for edm? As i hear some people say that these are made only for live music, like rock, classic and so on. I am not a bass head but also like edm sometimes.
It seems mine already was sent so hope to receive in February.

They are my EDM music IEMs. They are excellent at doing the low grunt in the bass needed for electronic, fully mesmerizing in bass detail.

I took some macro pics tonight, because @Hawaiibadboy is right about how beautifully-made they are. The link to the album (with some duplicate or near-duplicate shots) is here, and a couple of examples below:

Great, really happy to hear that. As i like quality electronic music a lot. Balanced 2.5 cooper cable with these should be great. Now just to have patience for waiting. Also good time to think about some upgrades in the source.

If you note the slight drop at 10K in the curve, it’s maybe slightly noticeable, but electronic goes around that drop I feel. You’ll be amazed with full copper and balanced. For me they didn’t really get going until 40 hours of burn-in and a balanced source. Before that and on single ended they are almost unremarkable. Good but not as great as they become. I have had to pull myself away from them just to use other gear as I spent so much on my other stuff. The DM6 is the greatest deal I’ve ever found in headphones or IEMs. The bass is way more noticeable than you would guess from the curve, which may be simply a direct result of enhanced transparency?

Has anyone got any recommendations for a 3.5mm balanced MMCX cable for use with the DM6? My portable DAC has some clever tech that will accept a 3.5mm TRS unbalanced or 3.5mm TRRS balanced headphone cable. I'm curious to try it out to see if I can hear a difference. Price range up to 50USD would be okay.

I have no clue if that’s a good or bad cable. But for the price? Enjoy

I'm listening to Marshmello's "You Can Cry" right now and the DM6 are killing the whole range including the low end.

@archy121 This one here: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/AK-...-2-5-3-5-4-4mm-Upgrade-Cable/32873344719.html

Select the 3.5mm MMCX option for a normal 3.5mm TRS headphone out. Note that it's a regular unbalanced cable despite the description in the listing. It sounds better than the stock one supplied, however, it's a very short cable so bear that in mind.
